
According to the plan of Hoi An City People's Committee, the 20th Hoi An - Japan cultural exchange event will be held from August 2-4, in the Old Quarter with many cultural activities, art performances, rich and attractive experiences.
Some activities are maintained annually such as: Boat racing "Hoi An, Japan and tourists"; Japanese calligraphy instruction, Japanese tea ceremony experience; stick pushing and sack jumping games; reenactment of the procession of Princess Ngoc Hoa and merchant Araki Sotaro; Vietnam - Japan art exchange program; painting "Hoi An children with Japanese culture"; street art exchange.
Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh - Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee said that this year the city cooperated with Japanese partners to organize many new activities, such as: Ceremony to receive the model of the Japanese Covered Bridge from the International Culture Institute, Showa Women's University; football exchange with the Kawasaki Frontale Club Coaching Board; baseball, boxing, wrestling exchange; exhibition "Japanese Dolls" and "Dialogue with Ukiyo-E paintings".
In addition, this year's event also incorporates the inauguration ceremony of the restoration of the Japanese Covered Bridge - a symbolic image of cultural exchange between Hoi An - Vietnam and Japan.
In particular, this year's event had the participation of Mr. Sugi Ryotaro - former Special Ambassador of Vietnam - Japan, a person with great influence on Japan, who initiated the cooperation to organize the annual Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange event in Hoi An, since 2003 until now.
In addition, from August 2-4 at An Hoi Sculpture Garden, the city organizes regular activities such as: Hoi An Market, Vietnam - Japan culinary space; tourism promotion booths, promotional information, items, accessories, Japanese comics; tourism space of Quang Nam province, Vietnam and Nagasaki province, Japan; booth of the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang: Theme "Sounds of Summer" - Making wind chimes, Experience program "Hizen ceramics - Storytelling patterns"...
The 20th “Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange” event in 2024 opened at 7:30 p.m. on August 2 at An Hoi Sculpture Garden, with the traditional Japanese art performance “Kagura”, performed by music groups from Japan: Kolme Group, Anirock Group, Tsushie Komodo Kagura Group; many performances with the participation of Vietnamese singers.
