As part of the activities during the State visit to Cuba, General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez visited the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) - Cuba's first free trade export processing zone.

On Viglacera's side, welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez were Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Corporation and Mr. Tran Ngoc Anh - Deputy General Director of the Corporation along with many officers and employees of Viglacera.
On this occasion, the two leaders of Vietnam and Cuba witnessed the announcement ceremony of granting investment licenses to two Vietnamese enterprises, Thai Binh Global Investment Joint Stock Company and ATG Fertilizer Company; directly visited a number of projects, including ViMariel Industrial Park and presented gifts to Vietnamese workers working on projects in ViMariel Industrial Park.
General Secretary and President To Lam pointed out that Vietnam will never forget the sentiments and affection that Cuba has given to Vietnam in the past, affirming the policy of the Party and State and that Vietnamese investors want to contribute their efforts to help Cuba in the current period of national construction and development.
ViMariel is Cuba's first limited-term concession project for a 100% foreign-owned enterprise. With a total area of 256 hectares, the ViMariel Industrial Park (IP) is located in the Mariel Special Development Zone, less than 50km from the capital Havana and is being developed to become Cuba's largest industrial zone.
With the advantage of being a large industrial park and real estate infrastructure investor in Vietnam, ViMariel Industrial Park of Viglacera Corporation in Cuba has been invested synchronously and modernly, ready to welcome investors to set up factories and do business. After nearly 6 years of operation, ViMariel Industrial Park has contributed to meeting a part of the demand for goods for the Cuban market in a timely manner, helping to significantly reduce the amount of foreign currency spent on imports, creating more jobs for Cuban workers, contributing to the sustainable development of Cuba's manufacturing industry.

By attracting many businesses producing food, consumer goods; construction materials; electricity - electronics; mechanical manufacturing; agriculture; pharmaceutical industry; medical equipment... ViMariel Industrial Park has become a bridge to help investors and businesses connect with the markets in Latin America, the Caribbean and South America, which still have much growth potential in the future.
At the same time, it affirms the important strategic step of Viglacera Corporation abroad, paving the way for many Vietnamese enterprises to successfully invest in Cuba, contributing to raising the level of Vietnam - Cuba economic relations to the same level as the political relations between the two countries.
