On the afternoon of December 26, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received Mr. Shii Kazuo - Chairman of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Japan, who is leading a delegation of the Communist Party of Japan to visit and work in Vietnam at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , VNA reported.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the achievements that the Japanese Communist Party has gained in recent years, saying that the Party's more than 100-year history and development have affirmed the mettle and stature of the Japanese Communist Party, demonstrating the Japanese people's trust in the Party's revolutionary path and cause.
The General Secretary expressed his belief and wished the 29th Congress of the Communist Party of Japan success, opening a new path of development, constantly enhancing the Party's position and prestige, and promoting an increasingly important role in Japanese politics.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the Communist Party of Japan and the Communist Party of Vietnam built during the years of revolutionary struggle, and expressed gratitude for the valuable support and assistance that the Communist Party of Japan and the peace- loving people of Japan have given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as in building socialism and developing the country today.
The General Secretary discussed the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was also pleased with the positive developments in the relationship between the two Parties in recent times through maintaining high-level exchanges and contacts and sharing information; highly appreciated the annual theoretical exchanges between the two Parties, considering this a bright spot in the cooperative and exchange relationship between the two Parties.
Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party Shii Kazuo expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again after 5 years since his visit in 2018 and to meet General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong again.
Chairman of the Communist Party of Japan Shii Kazuo informed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong about the results of his talks with Ms. Truong Thi Mai - Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission and the two sides' agreement on cooperation directions between the two Parties in the coming time.

Mr. Shii Kazuo highly appreciated Vietnam's position and role in the region, congratulated Vietnam's achievements in foreign affairs in recent times, and believed that Vietnam will continue to make greater contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party Shii Kazuo also reported on the recent construction and development of the Japanese Communist Party; on the plan and preparations for the 29th Party Congress scheduled to be held in January 2024.
Previously, at the Central External Relations Commission Headquarters, Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission, had a discussion with Mr. Shii Kazuo and the delegation.
At the seminar, the two sides agreed to continue discussing measures to promote relations between the two Parties and coordinate at international forums, and coordinate to well organize the 11th theoretical exchange between the two Parties in 2024.
