
Within the framework of the official visit to the Russian Federation and the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, on the evening of May 9 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the ceremony to announce the direct flight route Hanoi - Moscow of Vietnam Airlines and witnessed the exchange of memorandums of understanding on cooperation with partners in the Russian Federation.
This event marks a new step forward in the context of Vietnam and the Russian Federation expanding comprehensive cooperation in many fields, especially economics , trade, culture and people-to-people exchange.
In his welcoming speech, Vietnam Airlines General Director Le Hong Ha emphasized that the direct flight between the two countries not only brings passengers to their destinations, but also serves as a bridge connecting two rich cultures, symbolizing the close ties between the people of the two countries and allowing Russian passengers from Vietnam to continue their journey to other destinations in Southeast Asia and Asia, as well as helping Vietnamese passengers easily access Eastern European countries through the Moscow gateway.
In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines commits to continue increasing the frequency of operations, considering opening more potential destinations, researching charter flights to Russia, including the Far East; at the same time, expanding cooperation with many travel partners to diversify products and improve operational efficiency; contributing to bringing the people of the two countries closer together, opening up new cooperation momentum.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi highly appreciated Vietnam Airlines’ efforts in restoring direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow, meeting the travel needs of the people of the two countries; contributing to promoting trade and tourism development, demonstrating a long-term commitment to strengthening strategic connectivity between the two countries. This is not only a geographical connection, but also a symbol of the strong and growing cooperative relationship between the two countries.
In the coming time, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation will continue to do its best to be a bridge between businesses and people of the two countries, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends.
At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation jointly performed the ceremony to announce the Hanoi-Moscow direct flight route and witnessed the exchange of memorandums of understanding with partners in the Russian Federation, including: Memorandum of understanding between Vietnam Airlines, Saigontourist Group and the Russian Federation National Tourism Advisory Agency on cooperation in tourism development, brand promotion, and tourism promotion between Vietnam and the Russian Federation; Memorandum of understanding between Saigon Tourist Corporation and Moscow Waterway Tourism Joint Stock Company; Memorandum of understanding between Vinpearl and One Click Travel Tourism Company on cooperation in tourism development.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines operates the Hanoi - Moscow route with a frequency of 2 flights per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays using wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft and is expected to increase the frequency to 3 flights per week from July 2026.
The resumption of the Hanoi - Moscow direct flight is one of the strategic steps in Vietnam Airlines' international flight network expansion plan, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Airlines Corporation (1995 - 2025). This is a testament to the airline's continuous efforts in promoting the country's image, enhancing the national position and fulfilling the mission of "Taking off with the nation" in the new era.
