The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day.

On the morning of November 29, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) in the Northern region. Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet emphasized that 80 years ago, implementing the Directive of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh , on December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Team, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army, was established. The Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Team was established with 34 soldiers, including 4 party members, established a Party cell to lead all aspects of the team, and later established a Political Work Committee, marking the birth of the Political Agency in the Army. That affirms: Having an Army means having the Party's leadership over the Army. Therefore, the Founding Day of the Vietnam People's Army is also the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

Through the resistance wars, building and defending the Fatherland, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army has constantly consolidated, improved and developed its organization, staff and tasks. The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army always closely follows all military activities, directs and guides to continuously improve work efficiency, draws many valuable lessons and experiences in both theory and practice; well implements strategic advice on Party work and political work, affirms the position and role of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; excellently completes the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People.

Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet affirmed that in the coming time, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army will continue to implement many measures to promote good traditions, focus on strategic advice to the Politburo and the Secretariat, ensure to maintain and strengthen the absolute and direct leadership of the Party in all aspects over the Army, build a politically strong Army, which is the basis for ensuring the building of a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Army, building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam in the new period.
