Summary of activities participating in the Ooc Om Boc festival - Ngo boat racing in 2025

On the afternoon of November 14, the Provincial People's Committee held a summary of the activities participating in the Ooc Om Boc - Ngo Boat Race Festival in 2025. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang attended.

Ooc Om Boc Festival - Ngo Boat Racing in Can Tho City takes place from November 3-5, 2025, in Soc Trang Ward. The festival gathers 61 Ngo boat teams from provinces and cities in the Southern region to register to compete in the 1,200m men's and 1,000m women's categories. In Ca Mau province alone, there are 13 Ngo boat teams from 07 Khmer pagodas (08 men's teams and 05 women's teams) with more than 1,300 athletes participating.

After 2 days of exciting competition and great efforts, 3 female Ngo boat teams of the province won prizes; of which, Kosthum Pagoda had female Ngo boat team 02 winning second prize, female Ngo boat team 01 winning fourth prize; Ngang Dua Pagoda's female Ngo boat team won third prize.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang congratulated the winning teams; at the same time, he hoped that Khmer pagodas in the province would pay attention to maintaining traditional Ngo boat racing activities to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the nation. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the provincial leaders will always accompany, support and create conditions for Khmer people to organize and participate in cultural exchange activities with other localities.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 03 collectives that won the Ngo Boat Racing Prize and 07 collectives with outstanding achievements in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of the Khmer ethnic group.
