President D. Trump withdraws nomination of candidate for US Ambassador to the United Nations

On March 27, US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the nomination of Ms. Elise Stefanik for the position of US Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), in the context that the Republican Party needs to maintain its fragile majority in the House of Representatives to promote the "America First" agenda.

On the social networking site Truth Social, President Trump said this decision is to ensure that the Republican Party maintains its number of seats in Congress , especially in the context that the Republican Party is holding a narrow 218-213 ratio in the House of Representatives, making it difficult to pass important laws. He said he had asked Ms. Stefanik to continue to stay in Congress and join the House leadership team.

Ms. Stefanik, a New York congresswoman, is a close ally of Mr. Trump and a strong supporter of Israel. She is the second member of President Trump's Cabinet to withdraw from the nomination. Previously, Mr. Matt Gaetz withdrew from the race for Attorney General due to sexual harassment allegations.
