President Putin speaks out about Wagner leader's rebellion

On June 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a speech to the nation, after Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner private military group, made provocative statements in response to the Russian Ministry of Defense , RT reported.

In his speech, President Putin said that the actions of the head of the private military company Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, were a betrayal of Russia and its people. He also declared that the country's law enforcement agencies would take decisive action to restore order.

President Putin also vowed to defend the country against treasonous plots. He added that at this time, "we demand unity, unity and responsibility."

The Russian president stressed that "any internal turmoil is a mortal threat to our statehood, to us as a nation; it is a blow to Russia, to our people and to the defense of our homeland. Such a threat will be met with a stern response."

"We are fighting for the life and safety of our people, for our sovereignty and independence. For the right to be and remain Russia," Putin added, calling on citizens to put aside any divisions that could be exploited by foreign countries.

TASS news agency previously said Russian military officials had been constantly updating Mr Putin on the situation.
