Tottenham make decision on Son Heung-min's future

Son Heung-min's future at Tottenham Hotspur has been a hot topic during this summer's transfer window, especially with just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Son has not left Tottenham.

According to The Athletic , any decision regarding the South Korean striker's departure will be delayed until after Spurs' tour of Asia.

Tottenham have scheduled two major friendlies in the region, including a big match against Arsenal on July 31 in Hong Kong (China) and a clash with Newcastle in Seoul (South Korea) on August 3.

Son Heung-min, who is considered a national sports icon in South Korea, is the focus of this tour, as local fans have high expectations for his presence.

According to multiple sources, teams from Saudi Arabia are seriously interested in Son and own one of the greatest players in Asia. However, Tottenham have not received any official offers and are only willing to sell Son after the tour, if they receive a price that far exceeds the current value of the 32-year-old striker.

Son’s presence in promotional activities, fan engagements and competitions in Asia is pre-arranged, meaning any absence could cause significant problems for the organisers and commercial partners. As a result, the Spurs captain’s future will be temporarily “frozen” until the end of the tour.

Meanwhile, new head coach Thomas Frank plans to rebuild the team's attack. Tottenham have completed the signing of young striker Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich and are also interested in Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, suggesting the team is preparing for major changes in attack.

Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, scoring 173 goals in 454 appearances and becoming one of the club's greatest icons in the Premier League era. Notably, Son became the first captain in over 40 years to lead Tottenham to European glory, following their victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final last month.
