Summer tourist season begins
Although it has just started summer, tourist attractions in Ha Long City are already bustling. During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the city organized 5 events to attract tourists, including: Sports competitions to celebrate the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1); The 2nd Ha Long Beer and Squid Festival; The 2nd Lion and Dragon Festival; The Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival and the highlight is the Ha Long Carnival 2025 with the theme "Connecting Heritage - Pioneering Shining" with the participation of more than 1,000 professional and non-professional actors.
Ha Long Carnival 2025 attracted over 20,000 people and tourists to watch and cheer, and about 300,000 people and tourists participated in the experience through the LED screen system, as well as being present at Bai Chay tourist area to enjoy the atmosphere of the program... Ms. Ngo Thuy An (tourist from Hai Duong) shared: It is difficult to describe in words the scale and grandeur of Ha Long Carnival. Although it was quite crowded, we witnessed extremely impressive performances, the stage was so beautiful, and the investment was very professional. After the end of the carnival program, I spent 2 more days off to explore Ha Long tourism. This was a memorable vacation for my family members.
Cultural, sports and tourism activities all took place safely, without any serious situations or incidents, with strong influence, attracting a large number of tourists and people to participate and cheer, thereby contributing to promoting the culture, land and people of Quang Ninh in general, and the people of Ha Long in particular. Accommodation facilities in Ha Long City recorded a record increase in the number of visitors. The average room occupancy rate reached about 82%, even some large hotels reached 100% room occupancy on April 29-30.
Some destinations attract a lot of tourists, such as: Museum, Provincial Library; Sun World Entertainment Area; Ha Long Bay, Hon Gai beach... From April 30 to May 4, Ha Long City welcomed nearly 652,000 visitors, equal to 123% over the same period in 2024. International visitors reached nearly 46,100, equal to 134% over the same period. Total revenue reached about 1,829 billion VND, equal to 156% over the same period in 2024. Small accommodation establishments also welcomed a record number of visitors.
According to Vice Chairman of Ha Long City People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Son, to ensure conditions for welcoming tourists during the holiday, the city has been proactive, grasped the situation, developed plans to organize activities to serve tourists, actively renovated facilities, cleaned the environment to be green, clean, and beautiful; decorated banners, slogans, flags; strengthened fire prevention and fighting, and food hygiene and safety.
Authorities continue to strengthen inspections of tourist accommodation, travel agencies, tour guides, food service businesses, etc. Strictly handle cases of overcharging, soliciting tourists, not posting service prices, and violating legal regulations in business activities. In particular, during the April 30-May 1 holiday, Ha Long City basically controlled traffic congestion, preventing traffic accidents, especially on the evening of May 1 when the Ha Long Carnival 2025 was held.
Affirming the brand of the tourism capital
To enhance the image of Ha Long as a destination and increase the spending power of tourists, the tourism industry is focusing on exploiting the super luxury segment. Typically, Vietyatch Club has invested in 20 private yachts worth hundreds of thousands to millions of USD, to develop high-end experience services on Ha Long Bay for the luxury segment for many years, of which 65% of the market share is international visitors.

With the orientation of turning Ha Long into an international tourism center, the city encourages businesses to invest in developing quality tourism types and connecting tourist routes to promote the city's outstanding tourism resources; building tourism products with their own unique identities, such as: Ecotourism; cultural and spiritual tourism; MICE tourism; island tourism in Ha Long Bay; sports tourism; community experience tourism... At the same time, focus on developing the night economy, planning night-time economic development areas separate from residential areas; developing high-value services and improving the quality of service for domestic and international tourists...
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Head of the City's Department of Culture, Science and Information, in 2025, Ha Long City aims to welcome 11.5 million visitors, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching VND 26,500 billion. The Department has advised the City People's Committee to upgrade existing tourism products, research and launch new, high-class products and services, contributing to making Ha Long - Quang Ninh gradually become an attractive destination for tourists; building product chains linking units providing travel, transportation, accommodation, restaurants, etc. to set the goal of reducing costs, lowering prices, and increasing competitiveness with localities in the same region.
In 2025, the city aims to develop 3 new tourism products, including hot air balloon (fixed anchor) sightseeing, cafe bus, sightseeing cruise; continue to accelerate the progress of 6 tourism products deployed in 2024. In addition, the city creates conditions and encourages organizations and individuals to invest and build new products, such as VuiFest cuisine, music shows, developing community tourism activities, eco-tourism, etc. Tourism service units and businesses are also actively participating, fully preparing necessary conditions, exploiting new products, increasing promotion to attract tourists, especially during the peak summer tourist season of 2025.
With the combination of natural and cultural heritage and diverse tourism products, Ha Long City promises to bring a complete experience, creating a strong attraction for domestic and foreign tourists. Ha Long is gradually affirming its position, not only as a national tourism brand but also as a classy destination on the world tourism map.
