Hai Duong City will no longer have Pham Ngu Lao ward from next December.

The entire area of more than 1,200 m2 of land of Pham Ngu Lao ward headquarters will be converted into public green space.

Specifically, Pham Ngu Lao ward and Le Thanh Nghi ward ( Hai Duong city) will merge into a new ward named Le Thanh Nghi ward.

After its establishment, Le Thanh Nghi ward has a total natural area of 2.1 km2 and a population of over 26,000 people. The two old wards of Le Thanh Nghi and Pham Ngu Lao have 6 surplus officials, of which 3 officials will be reduced; 3 officials will be assigned to work in other units. 7 surplus civil servants when merging the 2 wards will also be transferred to other units by Hai Duong City.

The new Le Thanh Nghi ward headquarters will be located at the current Le Thanh Nghi ward headquarters. The entire area of more than 1,200 m2 of Pham Ngu Lao ward headquarters land will be converted into public green space and implemented in 2025.

According to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Hai Duong province will reorganize 57 commune-level administrative units including 49 communes, 3 wards, and 5 towns to form 29 new administrative units. The whole province has 207 commune-level administrative units (151 communes, 46 wards, and 10 towns).

The new administrative units will officially come into operation from December 1, 2024.
