The competition aims to select sketches and architectural plans that meet aesthetic and architectural criteria, serving as the basis for implementing the project to build the Reunification Monument.
This will be an artistic work of profound historical, cultural and humanistic value, affirming the spirit of steadfast struggle for independence and national unification, honoring the contributions of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh , revolutionary soldiers, heroic martyrs and compatriots nationwide.
Besides the meaning of national gratitude, the Monument also shows gratitude to the people of the world for supporting Vietnam's just struggle, whileeducating revolutionary traditions, arousing pride and aspiration to build a civilized and prosperous country.
Entries must meet the requirements of ideological content and artistic form (monuments made of durable materials, harmonious colors), expressing the spirit of solidarity, national pride and the desire for integration. The sketch can incorporate regional cultural elements, but must carry the common values of the nation.
According to the Organizing Committee, the project needs to meet the prescribed functions and create an aesthetic highlight at the new administrative and commercial center of the City.
Participants are domestic organizations and individuals with capacity and experience in the fields of fine arts, sculpture, and architecture (except members of the Organizing Committee and the Examination Council).
Contest entries should be sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board (No. 5 Phung Khac Khoan, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City; phone: 028.38247663; email: [email protected]).
The Preliminary Round will receive applications within 45 days from the launch date. After that, the Examination Council will conduct the Preliminary Round and the Final Round. Authors entering the Final Round will submit their completed plans within 15 days.
The final draft must be 130 cm or larger (plaster or equivalent), with an explanation and a general design on A1 paper.
The three finalists will be displayed and consulted by the public for 7 days at the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition Hall. After that, the authors will present and defend their proposals before the Council for 3 days.
The final results are synthesized from Council opinions and community feedback, reported to the City People's Committee for consideration and decision.
The prizes include: 1 First Prize worth 200 million VND, 1 Second Prize worth 150 million VND, 1 Third Prize worth 100 million VND. Valid but unwinning entries will be supported with 20 million VND; 3 plans entering the Final Round will be supported with 30 million VND for completion.
The official results will be announced publicly. The first prize winning work will be reported to the City People's Committee and presented to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee for selection as the official sketch model for the construction of the Reunification Monument.
