According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, based on the project to reorganize Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted into Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City wants to maintain stability for Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, so the enrollment target for grade 6 this year is the same as last year, specifically 350 students.
Regarding the admission method, the competency assessment test will continue to be conducted as in the previous school year. Specifically, candidates will take the test within 90 minutes. The test time is June 2025, instead of July as in previous years.
The reason for the earlier survey time is because the city's primary school enrollment is expected to be completed by the end of June (2 months earlier than last year), so the enrollment of grade 6 students for Tran Dai Nghia School will also be carried out earlier.
Also according to the HCM City Department of Education and Training, this year is the first year that candidates will take the test according to the 2018 General Education Program. However, the content of the test will remain stable as every year, because the nature of the test over the years has always been organized by HCM City in the direction of assessing students' application ability.
Specifically, the survey includes multiple choice and essay sections. The survey content aims to assess the ability to use English and Vietnamese; mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences; social sciences: history - geography; and common sense.

In particular, the essay test will have questions in Vietnamese and candidates will take the test in Vietnamese. The questions in Vietnamese are intended to test candidates' reading comprehension and writing skills.
