The workshop “Digital Economy – New Growth Driver for Ho Chi Minh City” attracted more than 150 delegates including leaders of central and municipal agencies, experts and businesses. The presentations focused on the development potential of the new Ho Chi Minh City, with open space and avoiding overlapping functions, thereby proposing strategies for developing digital infrastructure, logistics, digital industrial parks and digital human resources.

Dr. Thai Kim Phung – Vice Principal of the School of Technology and Design, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics emphasized the need to form an open data set, connecting state agencies, businesses, and job service centers to plan a long-term digital human resource strategy. He said that human resources in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau have a good foundation but need additional training in immediate knowledge, especially in the face of the impact of AI and automation.

At the workshop, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Statistics, the School of Economics and Law and the School of State Management (Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in research and policy advice for digital economic development.
Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics said that the school has implemented interdisciplinary training programs in fintech, martech, arttech and integrated knowledge of digital economy and sustainable development into each subject.

Digital Economy – The Spearhead of Ho Chi Minh City's Development
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City - affirmed that the city chose digital economy as the spearhead of development, focusing on measurement, raising awareness, strategic planning, business consulting and human resource training.
The policy discussion session at the workshop discussed four groups of issues: framework policies and the state's role in creating; appropriate development models; challenges and opportunities after the merger; and the 4P cooperation mechanism (public - private - people - partners), which is considered an effective solution to implement Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo.
