Ho Chi Minh City: Honoring outstanding teachers and presenting Vo Truong Toan Awards

(NLDO) - Nine teachers in Ho Chi Minh City were honored to receive the Labor Medal awarded by the President.

On the evening of November 19, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to honor outstanding teachers in the cause of building, innovating and developing education and training in Ho Chi Minh City; and at the same time presented the 28th Vo Truong Toan Award in 2025.

Attending the program were Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Huynh Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, acknowledged that the glorious achievements in the 50-year journey of building, innovating and developing education and training are not only an important foundation but also a driving force for Ho Chi Minh City to continue training and nurturing the young generation to become responsible citizens, with the courage to conquer knowledge, creative thinking and a quality human resource to fulfill the historical mission in the new era - the era of strong, civilized and prosperous development of the Vietnamese nation.

Vice Chairwoman of the City Tran Thi Dieu Thuy shared that since 1986, in addition to other fields, Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training has constantly innovated and created, leaving many outstanding marks. That is, pioneering the implementation of many foreign language and information technology training programs that meet international standards, improving the competitiveness of learners in the context of globalization and integration.

Ho Chi Minh City is one of the first units in the country to implement the Happy School criteria set at 100% of educational institutions in the area; effectively implementing the "Digital School" model...

Since the country's reunification, Ho Chi Minh City has built thousands of new classrooms, ensuring that every resident of school age in the area enjoys increasingly better learning conditions... "Among those achievements, we cannot fail to mention the teachers - those who quietly contribute to education, are dedicated and responsible in every lesson, every class hour" - Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy emphasized.

At the ceremony, 9 teachers were honored to receive the Labor Medal awarded by the President . In particular, the Second Class Labor Medal was awarded to Ms. Ha Thi Kim Sa, Chairwoman of the School Board, Principal of Hong Ha Secondary and High School.

8 teachers were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, including: Ms. Lam Hong Lam Thuy, Head of the General Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training; Mr. Dang Dinh Quy, Vice Principal of Nguyen Thai Binh High School (Tan Hoa Ward); Mr. Tran Hoai Thanh, Head of the Office Group, Bui Thi Xuan High School (Ben Thanh Ward); Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tong, Principal of Tan Tuc High School (Tan Nhut Commune); Mr. Ha Huu Thach, Principal of Luong The Vinh High School (Cau Ong Lanh Ward); Ms. Bui Minh Tam, Principal of Le Quy Don High School (Xuan Hoa Ward); Ms. Ha Ngoc Minh Thi, Director of Gia Dinh Continuing Education Center (Hiep Binh Ward) and Mr. Quach Duc Thinh, Principal of Trinh Hoai Duc High School (Thuan An Ward).

At the ceremony, 50 managers and teachers with outstanding achievements were awarded the 28th Vo Truong Toan Award in 2025. This award is organized annually by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper to honor outstanding teachers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
