At the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, said: Towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Ho Chi Minh City organized a poll and commended typical literary and artistic works, to honor the outstanding contributions of the city's artists over the past half century.
This is also an opportunity to recognize, set new requirements and expectations in the process of building and developing the city's literature and arts in the integration period, promoting the development of the cultural industry.
According to the Organizing Committee, the Council was established by the Literature and Arts Associations to nominate outstanding literary and artistic works, with 91 works in all fields of literature and art.
To select 50 outstanding works, the city's Department of Culture and Sports established an electronic information page "Voting for outstanding literary and artistic works of the city towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification".
Accordingly, the Organizing Committee recorded more than 55,000 votes from the public, demonstrating society's interest and support for artistic activities.
The city-level voting council unanimously recognized 50 official works and 8 reserve works, and submitted them to the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for consideration and agreement on 50 typical literary and artistic works.
50 works in the following fields: Fine Arts 5 works; Photography 5 works; Literature 5 works; Architecture 5 works; Literature and art of ethnic minorities 5 works; Dance 5 works; Cinema 6 works; Music 7 works and Theater 7 works.
For example, in music , the honored work: Spring in Ho Chi Minh City, author Xuan Hong; in cinema, the feature film Canh Dong (1979), director Nguyen Hong Sen; in architecture, the work Hung King Memorial Temple in Ho Chi Minh City, architect Nguyen Truong Luu; in the field of Dance, the work Mam Vang Cuu Long, author People's Artist Thai Ly....
At the press conference, the Organizing Committee held an exchange with authors with typical works, such as: Musician Pham Minh Tuan, author of the song "City of Love and Nostalgia"; People's Artist Huu Danh, author of the opera "Le Cong Ky An"; Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, representative of the group of authors of the Ceramic Paintings at Ben Duoc Temple and Mr. Tuan Le, director of "A O Show".
