This event not only opens up opportunities to promote the domestic microchip industry but also marks an important step forward in Vietnam's high-tech integration process.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Vietnam is creating outstanding mechanisms and policies, focusing on people and science , technology and innovation as the driving force. In particular, the Government has identified a “four-pillar set” consisting of four important resolutions to help the country take off in the digital age, especially in the semiconductor industry, a globally strategic and fundamental industry.
"The fact that the corporation owning outstanding microprocessor lines such as Ryzen and EPYC has chosen Ho Chi Minh City as a strategic cooperation partner is a testament to the attractiveness of the City, as well as of Vietnam as a strategic destination of the global supply chain. This is not only an opportunity to access advanced technology, but also a push for Vietnam to participate more deeply in the high-tech industrial ecosystem, especially in the context of strong global transformation with AI and cloud computing," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, also said that the city is promoting the attraction of high-tech investment, proactively anticipating new trends, especially in the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence. Currently, the project to merge three localities including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau will open a strategic development phase with an urban scale of nearly 7,000 km², a population of about 14 million people, making Ho Chi Minh City one of the largest metropolises in Southeast Asia.
"The City Government is committed to creating the most favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, infrastructure and administrative procedures to ensure that cooperation between the two sides is implemented effectively and on schedule. On the other hand, the Ho Chi Minh City government also expects that the cooperation with AMD will contribute to deepening the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," said Mr. Vo Van Hoan.
According to the cooperation content, AMD will support Ho Chi Minh City in developing a high-tech ecosystem, semiconductor industry, AI and smart urban areas. AMD's presence is not only a positive signal for Vietnam's technology industry but also contributes to positioning Ho Chi Minh City to become the center of semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence in Southeast Asia.
