Ho Chi Minh City will give monthly tickets for urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro) to students and workers in difficult circumstances in the area from now until the end of December 2025.

Those supported with metro tickets include disadvantaged students from schools in Ho Chi Minh City, with confirmation from the school or locality; and disadvantaged workers working in industrial parks and production facilities, with confirmation from trade unions or businesses.

According to Ms. Van Thi Huu Tam, Deputy Director of Urban Railway One Member Limited Liability Company No. 1, those in the above cases will be given monthly tickets to travel on metro line No. 1 from June to the end of December 2025.

This is to support disadvantaged students and workers to access the city's first metro line; at the same time, strengthen communication, build and spread the image of Ho Chi Minh City as civilized, modern and humane.

To do this, Urban Railway One Member Limited Liability Company No. 1 has sent a document to the City Departmentof Education and Training; local authorities and schools in the area to coordinate in collecting and reviewing the list of beneficiaries; mobilizing businesses, organizations and individuals to sponsor monthly tickets for students and workers in difficult circumstances.

Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro officially went into operation from December 22, 2024, attracting a large number of people to experience and use it to go to school and work.

The line is nearly 20km long with 14 stations (3 underground stations and 11 elevated stations), with 9 trains operating with 200 trips per day. Each train can carry a maximum of 930 passengers, including 147 seats and 783 standing places.

Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro ticket price paid in cash is from 7,000-20,000 VND depending on the route; non-cash ticket is from 6,000-19,000 VND depending on the route.

Daily ticket price is 40,000 VND/person, unlimited trips per day, 3-day ticket price is 90,000 VND.

Monthly ticket price is 300,000 VND/person/ticket/month for general passengers; for students it is 150,000 VND (50% discount).

Ho Chi Minh City also implements a policy of 100% ticket price support for people with revolutionary contributions; people with disabilities; the elderly (over 60 years old) and children under 6 years old to take the metro.

Ms. Van Thi Huu Tam also said that from June 6, Metro Line 1 will add a form of ticket payment via the Zalopay application. Payment via this platform is made directly at the ticket gates at the stations on the line./.
