The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that, in the face of the serious flood situation causing great damage in Dak Lak province, especially in the communes of Hoa Xuan, Hoa Thinh, Dong Xuan, Dong Hoa and Tuy An Dong, the Department of Health held an urgent meeting and decided to establish 5 working groups to provide medical support at the official request of the Department of Health of Dak Lak province. These are areas that are being heavily affected, many areas are still deeply flooded or isolated, and people lack basic medical services.

Accordingly, five working groups are assigned by locality, assigned to the final level hospitals of Ho Chi Minh City as team leaders, including: Gia Dinh People's Hospital, 115 People's Hospital, An Binh Hospital, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital and Binh Duong General Hospital. The team leaders are responsible for essential professional fields in natural disasters such as emergency - resuscitation, internal medicine, surgery and orthopedic trauma.

In addition, in each team, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has increased human resources from specialized hospitals, including Obstetrics (Tu Du, Hung Vuong), Pediatrics (Nhi Dong 1, Nhi Dong 2, Nhi Dong Thanh Pho), Dermatology (Dermatology Hospital) and Infectious Diseases (Tropical Diseases Hospital) along with a team of nurses and pharmacists. The multidisciplinary participation aims to ensure comprehensive care for people in flood-affected areas, especially children, the elderly and pregnant women who are the most vulnerable groups after natural disasters.

The core tasks of the working groups are to directly examine and treat people, provide free medicine and advise on self-care and infectious disease prevention. At the same time, the groups will support local health stations to restore operations, classify cases and coordinate referrals when necessary.
Notably, each team will bring 500 family medicine bags, including fever reducers, oral rehydration solution, diarrhea medicine, cold medicine, antiseptic solution and first aid supplies, a total of 2,500 medicine bags prepared from contributions from hospitals. All expenses for the business trip, from transportation, medicine, medical supplies to family medicine bags, are covered by the hospitals themselves, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and affection of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector towards the people in the flood-affected areas.

Dr. Vo Hong Minh Cong, Deputy Director of Gia Dinh People's Hospital, said that the hospital has prepared rapid response teams including doctors, nurses and medical staff, along with essential equipment, emergency vehicles, medicines and medical supplies, ready to participate in support when mobilized by the Department of Health or Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Previously, Gia Dinh People's Hospital launched the program "Supporting Central compatriots affected by storms and floods" with the participation of the Red Cross, Trade Union, Youth Union and all officials and employees. After 3 days of launching (from November 22 to 24), the program received essential items including 152 boxes of instant noodles, 50 boxes of fresh milk, 24 boxes of mineral water, 7 boxes of dry food, 24 boxes of cakes, 5 boxes of canned fish, 56 bars of soap, 20 raincoats, 167 packs of sanitary napkins, 40 packs of sausages and many other items, promptly supporting people in the Central region to overcome the consequences of floods.

In the early morning of November 24, the working group of Cho Ray Hospital in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union also set out to support the people of Khanh Hoa province in overcoming the consequences of storms and floods. The group consisted of 6 doctors from the departments of trauma and orthopedics, emergency resuscitation, and nursing.
From November 24 to 28, the team will rescue and support deeply flooded and isolated areas; at the same time, provide health care for about 150 young volunteers from Ho Chi Minh City. It is expected that on November 25, the team will deliver 500 family medicine bags to affected people.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has asked the leaders of hospitals and affiliated medical units to review the number of doctors, nurses and technicians that can be mobilized immediately upon receiving requests from the Ministry of Health and the provinces. The affiliated units have activated the standby mode, focusing on sending mobile medical examination and treatment teams that can move to the affected areas to examine, dispense medicine and provide medical advice to people; support vehicles, chemicals for environmental treatment and medical supplies for emergency and treatment.
