Thu Duc City opens photo exhibition "HCM City"

(NADS) - In the atmosphere of welcoming the new year 2025 and looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on the morning of January 10, 2025, at Thu Duc City Book Street, Thu Duc City Literature and Arts Association, Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association and Thu Duc City Book Street coordinated to organize the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of proud heroic epic".

100 works recreate a city of love

The exhibition introduces 100 photographic works with rich content, reflecting the dynamic development and international integration of Ho Chi Minh City through topics such as: Dynamic, integrated, developing Ho Chi Minh City; Cultural and sports beauty of Ho Chi Minh City; Ho Chi Minh City cares for health and education ; Ho Chi Minh City of affection; Ho Chi Minh City armed forces; Ho Chi Minh City with international friends.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hiep - Standing Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Secretary of the Thu Duc City Party Committee, emphasized: "The exhibition is not only an opportunity to review the glorious history of Ho Chi Minh City but also an opportunity for each of us to be more proud of the heroic, united and creative traditions of the city. This is also a reminder of the responsibility to build Thu Duc City to be increasingly civilized, modern and affectionate."

He also expressed his hope: "This exhibition is not only a meaningful cultural event but also the beginning for the Thu Duc City Literature and Arts Association to affirm its role in promoting and spreading cultural and artistic values to the community. The Association needs to continue to be creative, united and strive to create many valuable works, contributing to building a civilized, modern and sustainable Thu Duc city."

New pride

Thu Duc City Literature and Arts Association, newly established on November 23, 2024, has quickly affirmed its role in building and developing the local cultural and artistic life. The Association is a gathering place for people who love literature and arts, dedicating themselves to the development of Thu Duc culture and people.

In its first term (2024-2029), the Association aims to create many valuable works, while spreading cultural and artistic activities, aiming to build Thu Duc City into a livable, modern urban area but still imbued with traditional identity.

As a unit with a 43-year history, the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association has made constant efforts in promoting and preserving revolutionary historical values. The photo collection “HCMC - 50 years of proud heroic epic” on display this time is part of a photo book project of the same name, expected to be released in 2025.

Opened on December 22, 2023, Thu Duc City Book Street quickly became a familiar cultural destination, attracting a large number of people and tourists. With a length of 190m, the space is designed with inspiration from the culture of the Southern river, Book Street stands out with areas such as: book stalls, Ho Chi Minh cultural area, free reading space, and intellectual game experience area.

A special highlight is the more than two-meter-high sunflower statue at the welcome gate, carrying a message of brightness and aspiration for knowledge.
