(VLO) On August 5, Vinh Long City announced the completion and handover of the project "Piloting the construction of a sustainable drainage model (SUDS) in Vinh Long City", on the sidewalk section of National Highway 53 - from the Eye Hospital to the National Highway 53 roundabout - Pho Co Dieu Street, Ward 4, Vinh Long City, 53m long.

This is a project under the “Adaptation to Climate Change in the Mekong Delta” Project using non-refundable ODA capital funded by the Governments of Germany, Switzerland, and Australia through the German Development Cooperation Organization (GIZ). The total investment is over 980 million VND, with the Vinh Long City Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
Mr. Dang Minh Quan - Vice Chairman of Vinh Long City People's Committee, said that the project was completed and put into operation to create a sustainable drainage system, prevent local flooding for the area, especially build a spacious and civilized landscape for the city.
Based on the experience of this pilot project, the city is studying to replicate the model with similar flooding areas, contributing to reducing the risk of urban flooding. At the same time, when the project is handed over, Vinh Long City will coordinate with relevant parties to effectively manage and operate, ensuring the sustainability of the project.
