Ho Chi Minh City reclaimed land from more than 5,100 households to implement the Binh Tien bridge and road project and four projects to upgrade and expand National Highways 1, 13, 22 and the North-South axis road.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong has just directed relevant departments, branches and localities to complete legal documents, appraise and approve compensation, support and resettlement plans for 5 projects before the end of 2025.

The projects are expected to start construction in 2026 and be completed before 2028, helping to reduce traffic congestion at the gateways.

Binh Tien Bridge and Road

Binh Tien Bridge and Road Project (from Pham Van Chi Street to Nguyen Van Linh Street) is 3.6 km long, with a total investment of nearly 6,300 billion VND. The route is built as an overpass, with a road surface of 30 - 40 m wide for 4 - 6 lanes.

The project requires land acquisition from 389 households. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of wards and communes of Binh Tien, Phu Dinh, Binh Dong and Binh Hung to urgently review and complete legal documents, determine land prices, arrange resettlement housing funds and approve the overall and detailed compensation, support and resettlement plan in December 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Traffic Department to urgently complete the Feasibility Study Report and submit it to the Department of Construction for appraisal before October 10, 2025; the Department of Construction will complete the appraisal and submit it for approval before October 25, 2025.

Expanding National Highway 1

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1 (section from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to Long An province border) is more than 9 km long, with a total investment of 16,285 billion VND, of which compensation and site clearance costs are more than 9,600 billion VND.

The project requires land acquisition from 2,241 households, of which about 1,822 households will be cleared.

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of wards and communes of Tan Tao, An Lac, Binh Dong, Tan Nhut, and Binh Chanh to proactively implement compensation, support, and resettlement procedures immediately after the compensation component projects are approved.

Expanding National Highway 13

The National Highway 13 expansion project (from Binh Trieu Bridge to Vinh Binh Bridge) is nearly 6 km long, with a total investment of VND20,900 billion, of which more than VND14,600 billion is for compensation and site clearance.

The project reclaims land from 1,091 households, including 238 households completely cleared and 853 households partially affected.

National Highway 13 will be widened to 60m. The overpass (elevated road) will be 3.2km long and 4 lanes wide, with parallel roads on both sides, each side with 3 lanes, built on the route.

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City assigned the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hiep Binh Ward to preside over and coordinate with the Thu Duc Compensation and Site Clearance Board to review and propose additional resettlement fund, and report to the Department of Construction before October 7, 2025.

Expanding National Highway 22

The National Highway 22 expansion project (from An Suong intersection to Ring Road 3) was expanded to 10 lanes, with a total investment of more than VND 10,400 billion, of which compensation, support and resettlement costs were more than VND 6,234 billion.

The project requires land acquisition from 1,362 households, of which 392 households must be cleared.

The Department of Finance is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to appraise and submit to competent authorities for approval the Feasibility Study Report for component projects on compensation and resettlement before October 7, 2025.

North-South axis

The North-South axis road expansion project (Nguyen Huu Tho street), from Nguyen Van Linh street to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, has a total investment capital of nearly 9,900 billion VND. Of which, the cost of compensation, site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure is about 1,426 billion VND.

The project reclaims land from 36 households, including 19 households at Nguyen Van Linh intersection and 17 households in Nha Be district before.
