Ho Chi Minh City leaders informed that when implementing the merger of ward-level administrative units, there will be 1,022 redundant officials who need to be rearranged.
On the afternoon of November 26, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to deploy the plan to implement the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of the city for the period 2023-2025.
According to the resolution, the city will reorganize 80 wards in 10 districts to form 41 new wards. After the reorganization, 39 wards will be reduced.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that the merger of administrative units requires determination and synchronous coordination from top to bottom.
The city leader requested urgent and serious implementation, in compliance with regulations and procedures. He also informed that after the merger, there will be a surplus of 1,022 people.
"The surplus staff will be handled according to a roadmap and in stages, with priority given to local arrangements. In case of ineligibility, the superiors will be reported to have a suitable solution and arrangement," said Mr. Vo Van Hoan.
The Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City also emphasized that no fees or charges should be collected when people and organizations convert documents related to changes in administrative boundaries. According to him, only when people have a need to transact or a legal event arises, will the locality support the adjustment of documents, and not force people to convert.
Mr. Vo Van Hoan also informed that in this merger, the suburban districts will remain the same, because the city has a project to develop districts into districts or cities and has included it in the planning submitted to the Prime Minister .
