Tran Quyet Chien and 'legend' Blomdahl both continue with first place

The final round of the 2024 Molinari Cup 3-cushion billiards tournament will take place from December 15 in Ho Chi Minh City. The first round of the finals will feature 48 players, including 27 invited players and 21 players who passed the previous qualifying round. Notably, the finals will feature the world's 3-cushion billiards "legend" Torbjorn Blomdahl. The Swedish player currently holds the record with 46 World Cup titles and 7 World Championship titles. In addition, the competition day of December 15 will also see many of Vietnam's top players competing, such as Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Duc Minh, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, etc.

In the first round of the finals, 48 players are divided into 16 groups, playing a round robin to calculate ranking points. The top two players in each group will advance to round 2. Matches in round 1 are played to 35 points, with equal turns.

Torbjorn Blomdahl is considered a "living legend" of the world's 3-cushion carom billiards village. He currently owns 46 World Cup championships.

Torbjorn Blomdahl played well. The Swedish player won 2 victories, against Nguyen Van Phuoc Hieu and Pham Quoc Thuan respectively. The Swedish player scored an average of 2.059 points per turn (70 points in 34 turns). Thereby, the player born in 1962 won a ticket to the second round.

Vietnam's number one player Tran Quyet Chien also advanced to round 2 with 2 wins and the top spot in the group. The 4-time World Cup champion defeated Nguyen Van Tri and Le Minh Cuong.

Tran Duc Minh was the best player in round 1. The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup champion topped the list of players who advanced to the next round with the top spot in the group, achieving a scoring efficiency of 2,121 points/round (scoring 70 points in 33 rounds).

Round 2 of the 2024 Molinari Open 3-cushion carom billiards finals also saw the appearance of many strong players such as: Nguyen Duc Anh Chien, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh...

Round 2 took place on December 16, with 32 players competing. In this round, players competed in a best-of-two format to find 16 players who would advance to the knockout round. Matches in round 2 were played to 40 points, with no equal turn of cue.
