Trang Bom District currently has about 130,000 workers, of which about 80,700 people are in need of housing. To meet part of that need, the District Party Committee has issued a resolution with the goal of building 2,000 social housing units by 2025.

Although the number is not large, this is the district's effort and determination to help low-income people have housing.

* There will be 16 land plots for project implementation

According to the land use plan approved by the Provincial People's Committee, by 2030, Trang Bom District will have 6 land locations for social housing and 10 commercial residential projects with social housing land funds. These projects will be implemented in phases with the goal of completing 2,000 apartments by 2025.

The 6 planned land plots of the district are now in line with land use planning and construction planning and have been included in the list of priority projects by the district. Among them, there is a land plot of more than 8 hectares in Trang Bom town, a land plot of nearly 3.5 hectares also in Trang Bom town, a land plot of about 1 hectare in Ho Nai 3 commune...

For the 20% land fund from commercial housing projects, there are a total of 10 areas. Including land belonging to the projects: Bau Xeo Industrial Park Service Center Area in Trang Bom Town, Bau Xeo Residential Area in Trang Bom Town, Giang Dien Service Residential Area - Area A and Area B... Currently, the District People's Committee has coordinated with the consulting unit to prepare the investment policy documents, coordinated with the investor to determine the handover of land to the district to call for investment or the project owner to build social housing themselves.

Resolution No. 09/NQ-HU of the Standing Committee of Trang Bom District Party Committee issued in February 2023 sets the goal of striving to build 2,000 workers' housing and social housing units by 2025.

Vice Chairman of Trang Bom District People's Committee Do Ngoc Nam said that in the district, there are currently about 80,700 people in need of renting or buying social housing. To partially address the need, in February 2023, the District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 09 on developing workers' housing and social housing for the 2022-2025 period. After that, Trang Bom District People's Committee issued an implementation plan.

“From now until 2025, the district will prioritize the implementation of 8 projects. Of which, there are 6 social housing projects with an area of 18 hectares and 2 worker housing projects with an area of nearly 7 hectares. It is expected that by 2025, 2,000 units will be put into use,” Mr. Nam informed.

Deputy General Director of Thong Nhat Joint Stock Company (Trang Bom District) Tran Huu Trung said that the company is investing in a worker housing project in Bau Xeo Industrial Park, with an area of nearly 20,500 m2, a scale of 6 blocks, and more than 600 houses. Currently, 1 block has been completed and 34 apartments have been sold to workers. The remaining blocks will be invested in construction according to market demand. At the end of this year, construction will start on another block with about 107 apartments.

* Calling on businesses to invest in housing for workers

In addition to the solution of planning land plots and reclaiming 20% of land from commercial housing projects for social housing, Trang Bom District also calls on production and business enterprises in the area to invest in housing, dormitories, and accommodations for workers.

Up to now, there have been 6 enterprises investing in housing for workers, with more than 1,200 rooms, which can accommodate about 3,500 people. Notable among these are Phong Thai Group and Vietnam Precision Industry Joint Stock Company.

A representative of Ho Nai Industrial Park Joint Stock Company said that they have surveyed the housing needs of workers in the industrial park and planned to invest in two worker accommodation projects. The first location, over 6 hectares, has completed site clearance. If the legal procedures are favorable, the project will be implemented before 2025. The second location, with an area of 5.6 hectares, is in the process of site clearance.

Trang Bom District is oriented to become an urban area. In the planning of Trang Bom District to 2030 and vision to 2050, it is determined that more industry will be developed, so the labor force will increase by about 47 thousand people. According to the district's calculation, by 2030, there will be about 136 thousand people in need of housing. Therefore, it is necessary to continue investing in housing projects for low-income people.

Director of the Department of Construction Ho Van Ha said that Trang Bom is in the group of 4 localities with high demand for housing in the province. The plan for developing workers' housing and social housing issued by the Provincial People's Committee at the end of May 2023 assigned Trang Bom District to select investors for 2-3 projects. The proposed solution is that Trang Bom District must speed up procedures to receive the handover of 20% of the land fund to the locality. Reviewing the project that has expired without sufficient legal basis for extension, it is proposed to withdraw and hand it over to the district.

For projects that the district has identified as investment priorities for the period up to 2025, it is necessary to develop a plan and set out a specific implementation timeline. In the appraisal and review of social housing project design documents, it is necessary to limit townhouses to save space and suit the budget of workers.
