At the reception, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang acknowledged and highly appreciated 50 years of UNICEF-Vietnam cooperation with many outstanding results, especially in activities, programs and projects in the field of children; in effective and substantive cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and UNICEF at many levels.
The results of the cooperation have contributed scientific bases for policy making related to children's issues at the central and local levels of Vietnam, creating a standardized, interdisciplinary database to serve long-term analysis; enhancing the Academy's research, teaching and policy consulting capacity on children's issues; supporting UNICEF to promote evidence-based interventions for children, in line with the national strategy for sustainable development.
Discussing with Ms. June Kunugi about national priorities for children in the new context, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics said that it is necessary to approach the issue of children through the lens of social development management and sustainable development. Identifying children as the central subject, the key human and social capital for the comprehensive and long-term development of the country in terms of economy, society and environment. Effective social development management is proactively building a comprehensive "social ecosystem" where all children have the opportunity to develop their full potential.
Looking back at the effectiveness of cooperation in the past between the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and UNICEF, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang agreed with Ms. June Kunugi on the solutions and orientations for more effective cooperation in the coming time, especially in research, policy consulting, training, and capacity building for policy makers on children's rights...
