Delegates offered flowers and incense at the provincial historical site and the Vinh Thong Iron Bridge Victory Monument. This place marks the heroic feat of An Giang's army and people in the resistance war against French colonialism. Vinh Thong Iron Bridge is located on Provincial Road 955B, connecting Ba Chuc town with Lac Quoi commune, an important road serving military activities from Chau Doc to Dai mountain.
From June 3 to 10, 1949, Companies 2005 and 2006 of the 126-128 Joint Regiment; a 304th Special Forces Platoon and the militia and guerrillas of Ba Chuc, Lac Quoi and Le Tri communes organized 3 consecutive battles, flexibly applying tactics such as ambush, raid and mobile attack support. As a result, we destroyed nearly 300 soldiers, captured 2 alive; collected 213 guns of various types and 3 radios, foiled the enemy's encroachment plot, and maintained and expanded the Bay Nui base area.
After offering incense at the Vinh Thong Iron Bridge Victory Monument, the delegates went to Lac Quoi Cultural Park. Here, the delegates offered incense and flowers at the statue of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet; observed a minute of silence, commemorating the 14th anniversary of the late Prime Minister's death. Thereby, expressing their sincere gratitude for the great contributions and contributions of the late Prime Minister, especially the T4, T5, T6 canal project, which was started on April 22, 1997, located in An Giang and Kien Giang provinces. The project has awakened the potential of the Long Xuyen Quadrangle, doubling rice output, contributing to the improvement of the rural landscape in the region. At the 14th session in 2009, the An Giang Provincial People's Council officially changed the name of the T5 canal to the Vo Van Kiet canal.
