“Following His Footsteps” is a historical memoir collection consisting of special documents, authentically recreating the thirty-year journey (1911-1941) of Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh traveling abroad to find a way to save the country.

Through the writing style of a memoir, combining literary language and rich historical sources, the author has recreated a vivid picture of that thirty-year journey. From Nha Rong Wharf, Uncle Ho traveled across three oceans, four continents, nearly thirty countries, hundreds of cities, overcame countless hardships and thorns, and did many jobs to make a living.
The work takes readers through many lands: From Saigon to Marseille, from Paris to Boston, from London to Moscow, from Guangzhou to Hong Kong... He bakes cakes at the Omni Parker House Hotel (USA), cleans the garden in a villa in France, learns foreign languages on the deck of a ship, or a moonlit night on the English Channel, a moment of contemplation before the Statue of Liberty in New York... The authentic, vivid stories highlight the portrait of a patriotic young man with great ambitions, great ideals but always humble and eager to learn.

In June 1925, in Guangzhou (China), Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. This was the first political organization of patriotic youth, which he directly organized and trained. He also published the Thanh Nien Newspaper, training the first cadres for the Vietnamese revolution. This event was an important milestone, laying the theoretical and organizational foundation for the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930. “The purpose of the Association is to sacrifice life, interests, and ideology, to carry out a national revolution, to crush the French colonialists, to regain independence for the country, and then to move towards a world revolution to overthrow imperialism and implement communism” (excerpt from “Following His Footsteps”).
During the process of writing the memoir, Professor Trinh Quang Phu traveled to more than 20 countries, visited archives and libraries, and contacted witnesses to verify documents.
Professor, Doctor, writer Trinh Quang Phu shared: “With all my noble feelings for Uncle Ho, with the urge of a writer, I have created the memoir “Following His Footsteps”. Hopefully, it will bring readers useful information and documents, and through these pages, readers will understand more, love, and learn the style and noble will of beloved Uncle Ho.”
Deputy Director - Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House Vu Thi Quynh Lien commented that the book is not only a literary work but also a valuable document contributingto educating history, patriotic traditions and revolutionary spirit for today's young generation of Vietnam.
