Long Xuyen City leaders awarded certificates of merit to typical examples of following Uncle Ho.
From awareness to action
Right from the first days of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW, Long Xuyen City identified this as a key and continuous task. Party committees at all levels, authorities and mass organizations were proactive and creative in concretizing the content of the directive, making studying and following Uncle Ho the guiding principle for all activities. One of the outstanding successes was bringing the content of studying and following Uncle Ho into the regular activities of Party cells, agencies and units. Instead of formal and dry study sessions, the activities were innovated in the direction of open discussion, directly related to the political tasks and public ethics of each individual. Stories about Uncle Ho's simplicity, thrift and closeness to the people were recreated through specific examples in daily life, helping cadres, Party members and the People easily absorb and apply.
Secretary of the Binh Khanh Ward Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Bao shared: “We encourage cadres and party members to register for learning and following Uncle Ho's teachings in conjunction with their responsibilities and tasks. These commitments are monitored and evaluated periodically, creating motivation for competition throughout the unit”. It is the shift from awareness to concrete action that has created a strong ripple effect. Not only stopping at meetings, learning and following Uncle Ho's teachings are also demonstrated through patriotic emulation movements and action programs bearing the mark of Long Xuyen.
The most valuable thing in the 10-year journey of implementing Directive 05 in Long Xuyen is that Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style have truly entered life, demonstrated through meaningful actions. The story of Mr. Pham Nguyen Ngo (82 years old, a party member currently active in the Party Cell of Binh Duc Hamlet 4, Binh Duc Ward Party Committee) is a vivid proof. With the pioneering and exemplary spirit of an elderly party member, Mr. Ngo is not only a spiritual support, but also a leader of the community in many meaningful activities. Mr. Ngo shared: "Learning from Uncle Ho, my hamlet committee and I mobilized people to voluntarily donate land to widen the 2km long road along Can Xay canal, built a wooden bridge, 90% of households hung the national flag and Uncle Ho's picture". This is a beautiful flower in the flower garden of learning and following Uncle Ho, spreading good values in the community, affirming the strong vitality of Directive 05-CT/TW in the hearts of the people.
"Following" Uncle Ho, Long Xuyen takes care of the people
Imbued with the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh: "Whatever is beneficial to the people must be done with all our might, whatever is harmful to the people must be avoided with all our might", Long Xuyen City has turned this teaching into a guideline for all actions, especially in investing in infrastructure development and ensuring social security. With a strategic vision and high determination, the city has mobilized all resources to synchronously upgrade 168 urban traffic routes, completing and putting into use key projects, such as: The route connecting National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen City bypass, along with the My Khanh inter-commune road project... "These projects, along with many other projects calling for investment in infrastructure and society, have made an important contribution to expanding urban space, ensuring smooth and safe traffic. At the same time, they create the premise and driving force to promote remarkable socio -economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people" - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee. Long Xuyen Tran Minh Duc shared.
In particular, with the motto of “leaving no one behind” in the journey to help people escape poverty, Long Xuyen has shown deep concern for difficult circumstances. Over the past 10 years, the city has utilized public land funds to build Great Unity residential areas, Love houses, 5 public housing areas, arranging spacious and stable accommodation for nearly 500 policy households, cadres, civil servants, public employees and people with housing difficulties.
Another bright spot is that with the great efforts and determination of the entire political system, along with the support and companionship of organizations, businesses and philanthropists, Long Xuyen City is honored to be the first unit in the province to complete the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The result is 60 houses handed over, with a total cost of over 4.7 billion VND, entirely from social mobilization sources. The new houses are not only a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also provide strong motivation, helping households overcome difficulties, work hard, develop the family economy, contributing to building Long Xuyen increasingly rich and beautiful.
Continue the “follow” journey “10 years is a long enough journey to look back and evaluate the achievements, but it is also the starting point for greater goals, when on July 1, 2025, according to the Party and State's policy on administrative reform, Long Xuyen City - a district-level unit under the province will switch to an urban government model without the district level. Hopefully, each cadre and party member will continue to maintain the qualities trained through 10 years of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW, continue to maintain the flame of studying and following Uncle Ho; to become a "both red and professional" cadre, with heart and vision, especially in the context of urban administration requiring greater flexibility, efficiency and transparency. In particular, to preserve the sentiment of Long Xuyen - where people live in harmony, chivalry, loyalty and solidarity" - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Xuyen City Tran Minh Duc confided. |
