Strengthening strategic cooperation
Since the beginning of 2025, port enterprises have continuously welcomed many international delegations to visit and seek strategic cooperation opportunities. These meetings not only help ports expand cooperative relationships but also promote global supply chain connectivity, contributing to the country's goal of sustainable logistics development.
In May, Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai (TCTT) worked with major partners such as COSCO Vietnam Shipping Line, Sailun Group and Namsung Shipping Line (Korea).
Mr. Shao WenBin, General Director of COSCO Vietnam, informed that COSCO is currently operating 4 important service routes at TCTT, connecting goods from Vietnam to North America, China and Northeast Asia. “CM-TV port cluster continues to be a key market in COSCO's development strategy. Expanding service routes at TCTT not only helps improve exploitation capacity but also contributes to promoting international trade,” said Mr. Shao WenBin.
In addition to expanding international cooperation, businesses are constantly improving service quality and modernizing operating technology to enhance operational capacity and shorten vessel turnaround time. On January 17, during a visit to Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), Ocean Network Express (ONE) presented the Appreciation Award to TCIT, recognizing its efforts to improve service quality, increase vessel clearance productivity and shorten container turnaround time.
According to ONE’s assessment, TCIT ranked 9th globally among the ports it operates, based on criteria of productivity, efficiency, collaboration and continuous improvement. The award is also a testament to the sustainable cooperation between TCIT and ONE under the Terminal Partnership Program.
Opening up many opportunities for the logistics industry
Mr. Vu Hong Hung, Director of TCTT, said that working sessions with major shipping lines such as COSCO, Namsung and ONE helped the port better understand the needs and expectations of strategic customers. “This is an opportunity for us to improve processes, enhance service quality and optimize vessel and container turnaround time, thereby increasing competitiveness and operational efficiency,” Mr. Hung shared.
The fact that major shipping lines have chosen it as their main operating point is a clear demonstration of the operational capacity and service quality of the CM-TV port cluster. Mr. Ho Kim Lan, General Secretary of the Vietnam Seaports Association, commented that strategic cooperation with international shipping lines not only improves technical capacity and operational processes but also promotes the application of new, environmentally friendly technologies, meeting the trend of sustainable development.
To take advantage of cooperation opportunities, ports need to continue to focus on technological innovation, applying automation and digitalization of operations to shorten vessel turnaround times and increase productivity. At the same time, developing highly specialized and well-trained human resources is a key factor for ports to maintain and expand their service networks, enhance their position as regional logistics centers, and contribute significantly to promoting Vietnam's maritime transport industry on the international map.
