According to him, creating art is never easy for a responsible artist. Whether it is literature, poetry, music, painting, photography, all require passion and talent, but the most important thing is still technique and skill. We must create our own mark, so that the public can immediately recognize the author just by looking at the work.
In his opening speech, poet Thanh Duong Hong - Chairman of Lam Dong Literature and Arts Association emphasized: Painter Vi Quoc Hiep is a citizen from the North who chose the good land of Da Lat as his second homeland. Delegates visit the exhibition |
Painter Vi Quoc Hiep was moved when at the exhibition there were friends from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many artists, sculptors, and painters who are his colleagues.
Sculptor Dinh Thanh expressed his admiration: “If you type “Painter Vi Quoc Hiep” on Google, hundreds of articles, pictures, and reports will appear with full information about him. Painter Vi Quoc Hiep was born in 1948 in Lang Son, one of the few painters who received formal training at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts; after graduating in 1971, he worked in Ha Giang; in 1978, by chance, he was sent to Da Lat by the Ministry of Culture.
He is a multi-talented artist, a musician, a poet, a painter, with many collections of poems and songs that have been published, introduced, won awards, and are well received and loved by the public. In painting, he still carries two main themes: women and ancient villas, but he still goes straight, leisurely and freely, ready to think about the end of the horizon of painting. The women in his paintings are gentle, their dresses are bright, their innocent smiles are not tainted by worldly dust, but still make men swoon. On the contrary, his ancient villas are discreet, hidden behind rows of sunflowers, bright yellow mimosa, and the heart-wrenching green hills of Da Lat.

Public visiting the exhibition |
The artist's paintings are present in the National Museum and in collections around the world, proving that his art lovers do not distinguish between nationality or race, but in the subconscious of those who love Da Lat and love the author. Decades ago at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, I stood in front of the painting "Tay Female Militia", stunned by the indigo color of the shirt, the pink color of the girl's cheeks, the way the image was arranged, the new composition made me remember the author "Vi Quoc Hiep".
In 1982, at Lam Dong Library, I saw a sketch of the work so I was curious to ask and met him, happily "reached the end" and became colleagues, exchanged compositions with him and made several sculptures. In a flash, he was 75 years old, for him, not only did he carry poetry and music, but he was tireless, still standing straight to go to the end of the horizon of painting".
