Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee directs to solve water shortage in Duc Trong district

Many companies, especially agricultural product processing companies, in Phu Hoi Industrial Park have suffered from a serious shortage of water for production in recent times.

According to the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee in Document No. 4188 dated April 23 on considering the proposal of the People's Committee of Duc Trong district and Trinh Nhi Agricultural Products Investment and Production Joint Stock Company on the shortage of water resources, on May 6, the Department organized a working session with relevant departments, branches and units. Based on the content agreed upon at the working session, the Department of Construction compiled and reported to the Provincial People's Committee and on May 15, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing the resolution of the shortage of water resources in Duc Trong district.

Accordingly , the Provincial People's Committee agreed that Duc Trong Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company is allowed to continue to purchase domestic water in bulk from Thuy Thien Phu An Company Limited as proposed by the Department of Construction. Duc Trong Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company and Thuy Thien Phu An Company Limited are responsible for completing negotiations, signing contracts , ensuring water sources and being responsible for the quality of clean water for domestic use according to the provisions of law.

Agricultural production companies need large water resources but the supply is not enough.

The Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board to urgently coordinate with relevant departments, branches, Duc Trong District People's Committee, Duc Trong Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company to speed up the planning adjustment progress, as a basis for implementing the Water Supply Plant project in Phu Hoi Industrial Park according to regulations.

Duc Trong District People 's Committee is responsible for regularly checking and grasping the developments of the local water supply situation. In case of urgent situations due to water shortage, proactively contact water supply companies, promptly resolve according to authority or report and propose to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.

According to the People's Committee of Duc Trong district, currently, the water supply plant of Duc Trong Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company is providing clean water to serve residents in Lien Nghia town, Phu Hoi commune, Lien Hiep commune and serving production and business activities of Phu Hoi Industrial Park with a total permitted exploitation capacity of 4,250 ^m3 /day and night from underground water sources with 6 drilled wells.

Every year, during the rainy season, the Company’s water plant operates at maximum capacity according to its exploitation license, but there is still not enough water to supply for the daily life of residents and production and business activities of enterprises in the district. During the dry season, the underground water source in Lam Dong province often decreases significantly, so the plant can only exploit and produce about 1/3 of its capacity.

The above situation has affected the lives of residents in Lien Nghia town, some neighboring communes and greatly affected the production and business activities of enterprises in Phu Hoi Industrial Park.

Not only businesses lack water for production, people's domestic water is also in short supply.

According to the People's Committee of Duc Trong district, the reason is that recently the climate has changed complicatedly, leading to the situation of drought in the underground water wells of people in the district in particular and Lam Dong province in general, and the wells cannot be used. Meanwhile, the demand for clean water of the people has increased, especially in the dry season, leading to an increasingly large shortage of clean water. Meanwhile, the maximum groundwater exploitation flow of the current well system cannot ensure to serve the daily needs of residents and production and business of enterprises.

To overcome the above situation, the Phu Hoi Industrial Park Water Supply Project and the adjacent residential area have had an investment policy according to Decision No. 1641/QD-UBND dated October 10, 2024 of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee. However, after 6 changes in investment policy, the Project is still facing many difficulties in the implementation process.

Therefore, Duc Trong Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company proposes to request a temporary solution of purchasing clean water from Thuy Thien Phu An Company Limited until the completion of the Phu Hoi Industrial Park Water Supply Project and the adjacent residential area.
