To proactively and promptly prevent pests and diseases to ensure the productivity and quality of lychee from now until the end of the season, the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection requests specialized units of districts, towns and cities, including the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Luc Ngan, to focus on implementing a number of contents well.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Luc Ngan district, with the lychee area of the whole district being over 10 thousand hectares, currently for early lychee tea, the Department recommends that gardeners focus on directing production households to clean the garden, cut branches that do not bear fruit, small and underdeveloped fruits to limit the residence of pests and diseases, and implement regulations to ensure food safety and hygiene; at the same time, instruct farmers to harvest lychees to ensure the right ripeness, cut stems, remove leaves and bundle according to the requirements of each market.

For the main lychee season, direct and guide farmers to focus on garden care and sanitation measures, prune small branches, branches, fruits infected with pests, branches that do not produce fruit, hidden in the canopy to help the lychee garden be airy, limit the residence of pests and diseases; maintain moisture for the trees on hot sunny days, and at the same time clear and drain water well when it rains heavily; add potassium fertilizer, foliar preparations rich in trace elements and calcium to limit fruit cracking, fruit eczema, increase yield and quality of lychee. Strengthen investigation, detection, direction and guidance for farmers to spray pesticides to prevent and control stem borers in a timely manner, using specific drugs, prioritizing the use of biological drugs, drugs with short isolation periods and ensuring food hygiene and safety.

Along with the above measures, in the lychee export area, specialized agencies also guide farmers on care measures, record cultivation diaries, prevent pests and diseases, comply with conditions to ensure food safety and hygiene and regulations of the importing country.
