The identity of the referee who will officiate the EURO 2024 final between Spain and England (taking place at 2am on July 15) has been revealed. It is referee Francois Letexier.
Letexier has officiated three matches at EURO 2024, including Spain vs Georgia, Denmark vs Serbia and Croatia vs Albania. He was also the fourth official at the opening match of EURO 2024 between Germany and Scotland. He has not officiated any matches involving England at EURO 2024.
Referee Letexier is French.
Referee Letexier is considered to be very experienced. In the 2023-2024 season, he has participated in 10 UEFA club matches in the Champions League and Europa League. In the final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley, Mr. Letexier was the fourth referee. He also officiated the 2023 European Super Cup between Manchester City and Sevilla.
Compared to referee Felix Zwayer, who officiated the semi-final between England and the Netherlands, who was criticized for his past match-fixing, Mr. Letexier has a "cleaner" past. However, this referee is French, and France was defeated by Spain in the semi-finals of EURO 2024. Besides Mr. Letexier, his assistants Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni who officiated the EURO 2024 final are also French. Jerome Brisard will be the VAR referee for the EURO 2024 final, and he... also has French nationality.
The only non-French referee in the final is Polish national Szymon Marciniak, who is the main referee for the 2022 World Cup final. He will serve as the fourth official.
The EURO 2024 final will take place at the Olympic Stadium, in the German capital Berlin, at 2:00 a.m. on July 15.
