Recently, a delegation including leaders of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution and the Vietnam Publishing Association visited and shared about the book exhibition area.
The first floor space where the National Book Award exhibition area is located is designed to be open, welcoming natural light, creating a friendly atmosphere, encouraging readers to stop, open any book to read, chat, and seek inspiration.
The books nominated for the "Readers' Favorite Book" category this year are placed in large glass tables. Each book is introduced solemnly, creating conditions for readers to easily access and learn the content. In addition, the award-winning books of previous seasons are also placed in a system of glass cabinets along the walking space, creating a "journey of memories" to help viewers visualize the development of the Award and the diversity of Vietnamese knowledge over the years.

The organizers said that readers coming to the Library can borrow books to read on the spot. There is a quiet space for those who need to concentrate, an open space for chatting, and an event space for book launches, discussions, and exchanges. Each table has a QR code so that readers can order drinks without leaving their seats, a small convenience but contributing to creating a seamless experience between the cafe and the open library.
Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution Nguyen Nguyen shared: "From this space, we can see the spirit of bookmaking is breathed into every activity. Readers can clearly feel that books have become a living part of the community."
According to him, one of the most important tasks of the publishing industry today is to re-establish the habit of receiving knowledge for society, especially in the context of social networks and entertainment platforms taking up a lot of time of young people. Displaying books in open spaces, helping readers to be exposed to them naturally, is a step that should be encouraged.

"The publishing industry always encourages creativity in bringing books to life, instead of just publishing and distributing them in the traditional way. If we want books to conquer readers, we must change our organizational thinking. In fact, many books, although of great value, do not have the conditions to be widely accessible. The National Book Award is only truly complete when the honored books are present in the hearts of readers," Mr. Nguyen Nguyen emphasized.
At the exhibition area, the leaders of the agencies spent time looking at each book, listening to the introduction of the selection and nomination process, and the significance of each category. The exchanges between the delegates and the staff of the Library took place enthusiastically, from the story of publishing to the reading behavior of young people, from the organization of the National Book Awards to the expansion of community reading space.

The National Book Award is a national award, organized annually under the direction of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the managing and operating agency. Vietnam Television, the Vietnam Publishing Association and the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution coordinate the implementation.
This is the most prestigious award in the Vietnamese publishing industry, recognizing works with outstanding value in content, knowledge, culture and contribution to society. Participating books are divided into many different categories, including books on politics - society, science - technology, culture - art, children, and this year continues to maintain the category "Books loved by readers" so that the voices of readers directly contribute to the results.

Compared to previous editions, this year the exhibition area was moved to the ground floor, completely open to the public. This was a proposal by Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Publishing Association, to bring books closer to life, so that anyone can visit, read, chat and develop an interest in books.
Promoting reading culture is not only the responsibility of management agencies, but also the responsibility of the school system, families, social organizations and each citizen. Each book read is a small but important step in nurturing the intellect and soul of the community. The full opening of the exhibition area helps readers, especially young people, better understand the value of each book, thereby being more responsible for their own knowledge and reading.
