Actress Truong Ngoc Anh has just been prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Investigation Police Agency ( Economic Police Department) of Ho Chi Minh City Police to investigate the act of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".
Before getting into trouble with the law, Truong Ngoc Anh was a famous face in Vietnamese entertainment.
Born in 1976 in Hanoi , she started her career as a model, then moved into acting and made her mark through many film projects. In the following years, she moved into business as the president, director and legal representative of many businesses from film production, event organization, copyright of beauty contests to real estate.
In 1999, Truong Ngoc Anh founded Anh Viet Advertising Company specializing in advertising and events. Later, this company was transferred to another person.
In 2014, Truong Ngoc Anh continued to co-found TNA Entertainment Company with a 40% ownership ratio. TNA Entertainment operates in the field of film, video and television program production. In 2024, this company was involved in a scandal when its partner sued it for late debt payment.

Truong Ngoc Anh's most notable business deal is becoming the President of Nova Entertainment - the company that holds the copyright for the Miss Earth and Miss Ethnic Vietnam pageants in 2022.
During this period, the actress also attracted attention by sharing that she would invest about 50 million USD (about 1,300 billion VND) in film projects and the film ecosystem, including film production, construction of theaters, film studios, and international cooperation projects. However, only 7 months later, Truong Ngoc Anh's position was replaced by another individual.
Besides Nova Entertainment, Truong Ngoc Anh is also a founding member of SOHY Joint Stock Company (formerly HYDE Joint Stock Company) - the unit behind two famous restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, SOHY Sky Lounge & Dining and SOHY Star Dining Room restaurant located on the 25th and 26th floors of Centec Tower, right in the city center.
In addition, the actress owns a company that imports flour and several other restaurants…
The Investigation Police Agency, Ho Chi Minh City Police (Economic Police Department), has prosecuted and temporarily detained Truong Ngoc Anh (artist, actress) to investigate the crime of Abuse of trust to appropriate property.
Previously, Dat Rong Real Estate Joint Stock Company, No. 25 Dao Duy Anh, Duc Nhuan Ward (HCMC), filed a complaint against Truong Ngoc Anh - who used to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the company - for signs of appropriating the company's assets.
Accordingly, Dat Rong Company was established in 2007 with Truong Ngoc Anh as Director and legal representative. During its operation, Truong Ngoc Anh called on Mr. PGM (Irish nationality) to contribute a total investment capital of 9.1 million USD (equivalent to 149 billion VND) to implement 2 real estate projects, including the Indochine building project on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, old District 3. For this project alone, Mr. M. transferred 4.49 million USD, equivalent to 72 billion VND.
According to the investment contract signed on January 25, 2008, the Indochine building project must be owned by Dat Rong Company with a value of 12,917.7 taels of gold.
However, the police verification results show that even before signing the investment contract, Truong Ngoc Anh and NMH (born in 1964, residing in Tan Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) signed a sales contract with 4 households in the project land with only 7,917.3 taels of gold.
Of which, Truong Ngoc Anh had only paid 3,000 taels of gold, but according to the company's accounting books, it had spent 4,458 taels of gold, violating the investment agreement, showing signs of fraud, inflating the project value to appropriate the difference.
Notably, in December 2007, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to reclaim this land to expand Le Quy Don High School, and at the same time paid more than VND26.1 billion in compensation to four households.
Afterwards, the households returned the entire amount of more than 26.1 billion VND to Truong Ngoc Anh and NMH. However, Truong Ngoc Anh only transferred 3 billion VND to the company and investors, the remaining more than 10 billion VND was used for personal purposes, without reporting or accounting.
In addition, during the course of running the business, Truong Ngoc Anh took advantage of her authority as a legal representative to arbitrarily withdraw money from the company's account, directed the creation of fake accounting entries, and falsified financial reports to conceal the act of appropriation.
Ho Chi Minh City police are continuing to investigate and expand the case, clarify the responsibilities of related individuals and recover assets for investors and damaged businesses.
