University suddenly drops block C: Ministry of Education and Training proposes adjustment to ensure candidates' rights

In response to the news that some universities suddenly stopped considering the C00 combination (including Literature, History, Geography) right before the High School Graduation Exam, on the evening of June 5, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that they had discussed with the schools and noted that training institutions should adjust the combination of admissions accordingly, ensuring the rights of candidates.

According to the representative of the Ministryof Education and Training, this year is the first year that candidates will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 general education program. They will only take two compulsory subjects: Math and Literature, and can choose two more subjects from the remaining subjects they have studied in high school. At this time, the selection of graduation exam subjects has been completed before the time schools announce enrollment information.

Therefore, when some schools abandon the traditional combination C00 and build an admission combination that focuses on English subjects such as History - Geography - English; Literature - History - English; Literature - Geography - English; Literature - Civic Education - English... then candidates who register for the graduation exam with 4 subjects (Math - Literature - History - Geography) will lose the opportunity to register for the above combinations because they do not have a graduation exam score in English. This is disadvantageous for candidates during the admission process.

The Ministry of Education and Training also requires that schools, after making adjustments, will soon inform candidates and explain to society. The spirit of the Ministry of Education and Training is that although schools are autonomous and responsible for enrollment, they must be reasonable and ensure the best interests of students.

Previously, on June 4, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) announced on its website the information on regular university admissions in 2025. Accordingly, the school stopped recruiting group C00 for 17 majors and only recruited this group for 9 out of a total of 28 majors/training programs. Majors that stopped recruiting group C include: Journalism; Social work; Oriental studies; Korean studies; Management science; Public relations; Information management; Tourism and travel services management; Hotel management; Office management; International studies; Psychology; Information - library; Cultural studies; Vietnamese studies; Sociology; Cinema and popular arts. These are all majors that have traditionally recruited group C for decades.

The Capital University also announced to stop enrolling in the C00 group in 2025 with 11 majors including: Educational Management, Social Work, Special Education, Law, Political Science, Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Public Management, Cultural Studies, Literature, Psychology.

This makes candidates taking the C00 exam extremely worried because they are at risk of failing the university entrance exam./.
