Digital transformation (DTS) is becoming a requirement for many fields and professions, including education . Therefore, along with educational institutions across the country, in recent years, Hong Duc University (UD) has been gradually shifting from traditional training methods to using information technology (IT) systems to promote innovation in teaching and learning, improving the quality of training on a digital platform.
The digital education space “Smart Edu Hub” has just been opened and put into operation at Hong Duc University.
Director of the Center for Information Technology and Communications, Hong Duc University, Le Dinh Nghiep, said: The school has invested in IT infrastructure such as network infrastructure, server systems, high-speed fiber optic cables, data centers, etc. that are relatively synchronous and modern. In addition, there is a smart classroom with equipment to support lecturers and students to interact effectively during the teaching and learning process; a computer science laboratory with equipment and high-speed data processing systems, helping students of computer science to study and test algorithms on data mining, use, big data, artificial intelligence algorithms or effective blockchain technology, etc.
In particular, in response to the requirements of digital transformation in management and training, the school has equipped a modern school management software system, in which subjects such as managers, lecturers, and students all have a working environment in digital space. Through the use of PMT-EMS Education training management software; LMS online learning and learning content management software; iTest online exam organization software... the school can effectively manage and monitor lecturers' activities, supervise classes or other activities related to training departments in the network environment.
In particular, in 2022, Hong Duc University is one of the few universities in the country to introduce two subjects: Digital Transformation and Innovative Entrepreneurship into teaching for all university-level training programs (starting from the K25 training course).
Dr. Pham Van Hien, Head of Training Management Department, Hong Duc University said: The purpose of implementing this course is to equip learners with necessary knowledge about digital citizenship, information security, digital culture, helping to protect themselves and their assets in cyberspace and digital space. At the same time, it helps learners and students effectively exploit digital technology, outstanding achievements of the 4.0 industrial revolution in learning, scientific research and moving towards creating innovative products, starting businesses, effectively exploiting digital technology to develop their future careers and advising agencies and units where they work to apply digital technology in practice.
In order to support the improvement of learning capacity and capacity in the field of IT, Hong Duc University has recently cooperated with REMANn Company Limited (Korea) to open and put into operation the digital education space "Smart Edu Hub" with 20 high-configuration computers arranged scientifically, along with convenient and synchronous equipment. "Smart Edu Hub" is not only a place to provide facilities, but also a place to organize courses to help learners improve their knowledge of IT, ensure the quality of education and shorten the intellectual gap, create learning opportunities for people and help society develop modernly and equally.
According to Vice President of Hong Duc University Dau Ba Thin, the digital education space “Smart Edu Hub” is a product of a cooperation program between Hong Duc University, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) and REMANn Company Limited. This is an important project, helping students of Hong Duc University in particular and students of other universities, colleges and high schools in Thanh Hoa province to have the opportunity to improve their learning capacity in the field of IT; at the same time, helping local people to use and access IT for free and effectively, thereby contributing to “narrowing the digital gap”.
It is known that the goal of Hong Duc University in the coming time is to build the school into one of the model digital transformation models for universities, contributing to improving the quality of training, scientific research and technology transfer... Accordingly, from now until 2025, the school will focus on completing the construction of the overall digital transformation architecture for Hong Duc University, network infrastructure, IT equipment, specialized laboratories, virtual reality classrooms, online classrooms serving teaching advanced programs and in-depth research are upgraded and built. Building a smart management and operation system, integrating 100% of digital services in the school, integrating a security surveillance camera system applying artificial intelligence technology and big data...
To successfully implement digital transformation in schools, Hong Duc University has also outlined a roadmap and specific solutions. In the immediate future, it is necessary to strengthen the propaganda of the role of digital transformation, raise awareness for all cadres, teachers and employees in the school. School leaders must be pioneers and must link goals with digital transformation implementation; build a spirit of innovation and creativity, apply IT in work implementation throughout from school leaders to lecturers and staff; conduct research on digital transformation models in the world... By 2030, Hong Duc University strives to become a smart school in the leading group of universities in the country.
