Van Lang University reprimands student for disrespectful behavior towards veteran on April 30

On the morning of May 9, Van Lang University announced that it had taken disciplinary action against a male student who had inappropriate behavior towards veterans during the recent April 30 holiday.

A male student from Van Lang University acted disrespectfully and spoke loudly to a veteran, causing outrage among the online community.

A representative of Van Lang University said that immediately after the incident, the school invited the student and his family to work directly. Through the student's report, a comprehensive assessment of the student's learning process at the school and consultation with educational management agencies, based on current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the school's Student Reward and Discipline Council held a meeting and determined the form of reprimand and education for the student.

Specifically, according to Article 6, Circular 10/2016/TT-BGDDT dated April 5, 2016 promulgating the Regulations on student affairs for full-time university training programs, compared with Article 3 of the Regulations on violations and disciplinary framework for students of Van Lang University (Decision 559/QD-DHVL dated May 8, 2023) and the School Regulations of Van Lang University, the school agrees on the form ofeducational handling (reprimand level).

This level of punishment creates opportunities for students to correct their mistakes and grow up, requiring students to seriously learn from their mistakes and commit to not repeating unsatisfactory behaviors. At the same time, the school requires the Student Support Center, the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and related units to continue to monitor and educate this student, and calls on families to join hands in educating learners.

The school representative emphasized: "The behavior of one student does not represent the Van Lang student community. With the humanistic spirit of the university education environment, the school has the responsibility to accompany students through the learning and growing process, so that young people have the opportunity to develop and self-recognize."
