Ly Tu Trong Secondary School - a bright spot in the quality of spearhead and mass education

BHG - In the 2024-2025 school year, Ly Tu Trong Secondary School (Vi Xuyen) continues to maintain and promote positive results in comprehensiveeducation . The quality of mass education and key education is guaranteed and improved, contributing to the overall achievements of the provincial education sector in general and Vi Xuyen district in particular.

Leading secondary school in excellent student achievement

In the 2024-2025 school year, the whole school has 10 classes with a total of 341 students, including 194 boarding students. The training level of the team meets and exceeds the standard; many teachers have good professional capacity, enthusiasm, and responsibility. This school year, 6 teachers achieved the title of excellent teachers at the provincial level, 8 teachers achieved the title of excellent teachers at the district level. The quality of students' learning and training is maintained. The year-end learning results show that 234 students are classified as excellent, accounting for 68.6%; 106 students are classified as good, accounting for 31.1%. Regarding training, 338 students are classified as having good conduct, accounting for 99.1%. Students completing the junior high school program reached a rate of 100%. Class transfers and program completion are on schedule for the school year.

During this school year, the school's students participated in all competitions for excellent students at all levels. At the provincial competition for excellent students, the school's students won a total of 77 prizes, including 4 first prizes, 30 second prizes, 26 third prizes and 17 consolation prizes, leading in the number of prizes among secondary schools in the province. At the district competition, students in grades 6, 7 and 8 won 183/188 prizes, reaching a rate of 97.3%. In addition, the school's students also won 118 prizes in the Violympic and IOE competitions at the provincial level and 3 national prizes.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Principal of Ly Tu Trong Secondary School said: “From the beginning of the school year, the school has proactively developed a teaching plan, organized training for excellent students in each subject group, and selected a team of experienced teachers to undertake training. At the same time, we pay attention to managing boarding school discipline, creating favorable conditions for students to study and practice with peace of mind.”

In addition to professional work, the school maintains good moral education and life skills activities for students. Emulation movements, experiential activities, flag salute activities, and Team activities are implemented seriously and in depth, contributing to building a disciplined and orderly educational environment.

Solutions to improve teaching and learning conditions

In terms of facilities, the school currently has 10 classrooms and some subject classrooms, a computer room, and a library. However, because the school was built a long time ago, some items have deteriorated, the area is narrow, and cannot meet the needs of organizing teaching and extracurricular activities. The dormitory currently has 14 rooms for students, but the area is narrow, and some items such as bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, dining rooms, etc. need to be renovated and upgraded.

Faced with that reality, the People's Committee of Vi Xuyen district approved the Project to expand the scale and relocate Ly Tu Trong Secondary School to Duc Thanh village, Dao Duc commune. The project has a total cost of over 19 billion VND, of which the Vietnam Bank Trade Union sponsored 16 billion VND and the district budget invested 3 billion VND. Currently, the school has received and put into use a student dormitory consisting of 20 closed rooms. It is expected that in the summer of 2025, construction of classrooms at the new school will continue.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung added: “Moving the school to a new location is an important step to ensure learning and living space for students, meeting the requirements of renewing the general education program. The school hopes to continue receiving attention and support from all levels and sectors to complete the facilities according to the roadmap.”

At the working session with the school at the end of May, Mr. Vuong Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province, acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding results of Ly Tu Trong Secondary School in the 2024-2025 school year. He requested the school to continue to pay attention to enrollment work, improve input quality; orient and support 9th grade students to take exams to enter high-quality schools; strengthen teaching and learning English combined with practicing speaking and writing skills about Ha Giang province; promote extracurricular activities and life skills education for boarding students; promote the spirit of solidarity and creativity, maintain the role of a leading unit in education quality in the province.

It can be said that Ly Tu Trong Secondary School continues to affirm its role as a unit with high quality education, actively contributing to the overall results of the education sector of the province in general and Vi Xuyen district in particular. The school constantly innovates teaching methods, improves the professional qualifications of the teaching staff, and at the same time focuses on comprehensive education for students to meet the development requirements of the education sector in the new period, contributing to training quality human resources for the locality.
