(CLO) The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Monday that the South Korean National Assembly passed a vote to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday.
Mr. Yoon was impeached in the second vote of the opposition-led South Korean National Assembly on imposing martial law on December 3. KCNA first reported on the martial law crisis in South Korea on December 11.
According to the new article, KCNA called Mr. Yoon's defiant remarks on television on December 12 "obstinate" and referred to a protest in front of the South Korean National Assembly calling for Mr. Yoon's impeachment.

The article also noted reports of the suspension of several South Korean military and police officials and the ongoing investigation into Mr. Yoon.
After the impeachment vote passed on Saturday, South Korea's acting Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho called on the military to maintain readiness and stabilize the situation.
