Tu Dua has a new stage name, Mars Anh Tu.

- It seems like you are defining yourself as a music producer and talent trainer rather than a singer?

I have been working as a producer for more than 10 years now since I switched to composing songs. The only difference is that in the past 5 years, the production has become larger and more professional when I founded 2 entertainment companies in Ho Chi Minh City, Mars Entertainment and MyTonic. I also have 2 very talented companions, musicians Ho Hoai Anh and Nguyen Thanh Binh.

Before, I worked independently in Hanoi, but now the company manages artists such as Anh Quan Idol, Hoang Minh Khoi ( Diem Hen Tai Tai) , my children Lexxi (20 years old) and Linh Nhi (25 years old) also signed contracts with the company. I hope my entertainment company will really grow in Ho Chi Minh City as well as in the whole country. In addition, I also organize and produce programs for Vu Cat Tuong, Hoang Thuy Linh and recently the art program to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam - America Association... Therefore, I have now moved to Ho Chi Minh City.

I am a meticulous and strict person at work. I always tell my colleagues that because of that strictness, when you have achieved success in bringing your music products to the market, you will no longer give me the opportunity to be strict, at that time the strictness belongs to the public.

With my children, I am very strict!

- What about your children? Having a father who is the company director, will they enjoy any special privileges or even be more strict with you?

With my children, I am strict but do not put my ego too high in production work. Lexxi will release an EP at the end of this year and she completely chooses the production unit, although her father's company can also take care of it. I respect the direction, musical taste and image of my children. At that time, I was just an investor. Lexxi belongs to Gen Z and likes music that is entertaining and has a rhythm.

Of course, the contract with each artist will have its own appropriate agreement. The children also have their own agreement but are more favored and invested. When you perform and have results, that is only the capital I support in the first year, and from the following year you have to take care of your own work expenses and give a portion of the sales to the company to operate and pay the staff. You have to understand that and there are no exceptions, and that is how you can motivate them.

Mars Anh Tu has 10 years of trumpet learning experience.

I am at a disadvantage compared to my peers because I had children early.

- Recently I saw you learning to dance, play the trumpet, play the guitar, Mars Anh Tu wants to be a multi-talented artist in the future?

I studied classical instruments, the trumpet, at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music), and have been trained in a professional music environment for 10 years. I come from a family of musicians, my mother is a dancer, my father is a musician in the National Symphony Orchestra. Recently, people have seen me playing the trumpet or the guitar, but I actually studied it and now I have time for it. I have always had a love for musical instruments, but I just didn't show it before.

I turned to singing at the age of 16 and singing has been my main career ever since. Compared to my peers, I was at a disadvantage because I had children too early. Our time was not like now, where social media was developed, so if people had families, they still had the ability to develop as long as their music was good, they would be accepted. In my time, singers had to be young and if they had families too early, it would be a hindrance to their careers.

The most successful time in my singing career was when I was in the Watermelon group, then I spent 10 years as a solo singer at the Youth Theater and participated in the theater's big and small programs. I was satisfied with my singing career. Later, when I switched to composing songs and producing, I sang less. After establishing the company and stabilizing, I had more time for singing.

Mars Anh Tu is famous as a member of the group Watermelon with Bang Kieu and Tuan Hung.

When I returned to the theater, I was able to act in musicals and I also had experience in acting. I think I can also do well in the roles in the arts, but currently I choose the production job behind the artists. I think that is also a mission because I can support many people and they are truly successful, for example, Duong Edwards, Anh Quan Idol, Tu Voi... I am also the ferryman for their success today, such as Tuan Hung, Huong Tram....

I think that is my mission and singing or playing the trumpet is in my blood. I come from the Watermelon group so practicing singing and dancing at the same time is also to make me more flexible so that when there is a show and I want to bring the audience a special performance. As a multi-talented artist who plays the trumpet or sings and dances, you have to practice every day so that when you go on stage, the audience cannot comment: "Tu Dua used to be stylish but now he is in a bad shape". When appearing, I always have to be a well-groomed artist so as not to lose my image in front of the public and always want to bring something new to the audience.

- What advice do you have for your children?

I always tell my children that they must always remember that they are children of an artistic family and that they have their father's support and investment behind them, so they must live a standard life and try harder in their career. I say: "I don't want people to compare you to be better than me or equal to me, but when mentioning Lexxi or Linh Nhi, I want the audience to mention you as independent artists, not as Tu Dua's children.

- What big plans do you have from now until the end of the year?

I am currently busy introducing new artists of the company such as Lexxi, Anh Quan Idol. I am also planning to take the show Chon Tim abroad to perform. In addition to the shows in Vietnam, I want to build a musical next year as well as a private live music night show, music festivals for young people and try to invite some famous international artists to perform in Vietnam.

Men my age are just in their prime.

- Do you think you have a full and fulfilling life in your career at this age? It seems like Tu Dua lacks nothing?

Men in my middle age are just in their prime. I spent my youth flying high and singing a lot, and now I am in a position to support everyone. I am always serious with myself and try to maintain my form in everything from health to art. I have to set an example for my children as well as the artists in the company.

I always say that in art, satisfaction means you're going down. In my career, I'm still as meticulous as possible, so at this age, I still sit at the piano and practice the trumpet every day. I always want to do better.

- Besides work and music, what other passions do you spend time on? How do you arrange your time during the day?

Every day, I usually go to the company in the morning to have meetings and manage work, review the products of the artists in the company. In the afternoon, I often play sports and on the weekends, I prioritize my family more. I have loved sports since I was a child, and I love football. I have a principle that no matter how busy I am, I must set aside 1-2 hours for sports because no one is busy all day.

I always exercise to stay in shape, first of all for my health, secondly to set an example for my children and those around me to spread positive energy.
