Innovation in thinking to improve production and business efficiency, and strengthen the role of “midwife” for farmers is currently present in many agricultural cooperatives in the province. This is the basis for effectively implementing the strategy of building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and civilized farmers.
Production linkage area of An Ninh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative (Quynh Phu).
With the requirement to convert operations to a new cooperative model, An Ninh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative (Quynh Phu) has made appropriate changes, promoting the role of gathering and guiding farmers to effectively apply scientific and technical advances in production; focusing on establishing production linkages to increase value and profit on the basis of reducing input costs, building agricultural product brands to create stable output. The Cooperative has invested in purchasing 3 transplanters, 1 soil preparation machine, 2 pesticide sprayers, and 1 fertilizer machine to serve members. The Cooperative's services have become competitive and "healthy" the services serving local production. The Cooperative also gathered 8 local harvesters and machines from other provinces to serve farmers at reasonable prices, ensuring security and order in the locality.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, Director of the Cooperative, said: This season, we have built 3 production linkage areas with an area of 30 hectares. In addition to having their products consumed, members participating in the linkage also enjoy lower land preparation, sowing and harvesting service prices than free sowing by 100,000 VND/sao, thereby improving production efficiency. By equipping machines, the Cooperative will clean the fields, restore the fallow fields and then hand them over to individuals who are actively producing, encouraging them by providing free services for 2 years. The Cooperative will continue to restore other areas.
This approach of An Ninh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative has been highly appreciated by the local Party Committee, government and people. The Cooperative has also built the brand of Gianh village rice according to quality standards, ensuring food hygiene and safety, and labels with traceable origins, while registering to participate in the province's OCOP program. This is also the first agricultural service cooperative in the province to have a point of introduction and sale of OCOP products.
Realizing that the demand for clean food in the market is currently very high, and at the same time, organic vegetable production is a growing trend, Trung An Green Agriculture Cooperative was born, leading and connecting members in safe vegetable production towards organic.
Mr. Trinh Van Dieu, Director of the Cooperative, said: 40.6 hectares of specialized vegetable cultivation in Trung An all apply safe vegetable production processes. Trung An people produce 7-9 batches of vegetables/year, supplying the market with 15-25 tons/day with 23-25 types of vegetables. To move towards organic production, the Cooperative has invested in installing 6 greenhouses according to Israeli standards, with a total area of 2,500m2, and a 10-hectare production area according to VietGAP standards. The Cooperative trains members on production processes and techniques from soil treatment, soil composting, bed making, seedling incubation, care, harvesting to product packaging. During the care process, the Cooperative absolutely does not use growth stimulants but only uses organic fertilizers from manure, by-products from vegetables, tubers, fruits... and uses biological pesticides. Thanks to that, the Cooperative has produced 7 types of vegetables that meet VietGAP and OCOP standards. In the coming time, the Cooperative will continue to focus on sustainable organic agricultural production; expand the model and widely disseminate technical processes to farmers in the area to implement the production chain. At the same time, the Cooperative aims to combine production with experiential tourism , contributing to creating an environment for students to learn about clean agriculture and the value of organic agriculture for people and the living environment.
The province currently has 344 agricultural cooperatives, of which 315 cooperatives have been reorganized and operated under the 2012 Law on Cooperatives, 29 cooperatives have been newly established, and 6 cooperatives will be newly established in 2022. There are over 250 cooperatives participating in production and product consumption linkages with 20 enterprises inside and outside the province, with a total planting area with product consumption linkage contracts reaching over 10,000 hectares/year.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha, Vice President of the Provincial Cooperative Union, said: To develop, cooperatives need to change their awareness and thinking from those who directly participate in cooperatives, directly manage cooperatives to cooperative management agencies in the direction of transforming "agricultural production thinking" to "agricultural economic thinking". Faced with the requirement of green production to create clean products, protecting the green and clean environment throughout the agricultural cultivation process is one of the key points that helps the province's agricultural cooperatives position their brands and positions in the market. This is also the foundation for cooperatives to have sustainable development strategies in the future.
