After a year of experimenting with bringing the spirit of sustainable fashion development into Vietnam International Fashion Week such as processing recycled materials and bringing culture into design, in 2023 the organizers will exploit it from a new perspective - applying natural materials.

Towards natural, environmentally friendly materials

With the theme Shaping The Future , the organizers of Vietnam International Fashion Week encourage designers to use natural, environmentally friendly materials such as silk, hemp, etc.

In this 15th season, designers Le Thanh Hoa, Vu Thu Phuong, Vu Viet Ha, Xuan Thu Nguyen (a Dutch designer of Vietnamese origin), Nguyen Minh Cong... prioritize the use of natural materials.

Le Thanh Hoa used Ma Chau silk, organza, taffeta, raffia... for the collection Flowers on the waves . Vu Viet Ha mainly used Thien Phuoc green hemp when creating the collection Water from the source .

Meanwhile, Xuan Thu Nguyen used recycled materials to create the In Alignment collection. Nguyen Minh Cong also used environmentally friendly materials such as linen, My A silk, Tan Chau silk... for Ve nha Ut oi . Vu Thu Phuong used silk from Co Chat craft village ( Nam Dinh province).

Ms. Trang Le - President of the Association of Southeast Asian Fashion Designers and President of Vietnam International Fashion Week - told Tuoi Tre Online : "Each fashion week will focus on a new perspective because sustainable fashion is not a choice but a mission. Sustainable fashion is inevitable. If Vietnamese fashion wants to go far, it cannot stand outside the flow of world fashion."

Through this, the organizers suggest, guide, and inspire designers with perspectives on sustainable fashion, as well as provide knowledge and gradually change consumer habits.

Vu Thu Phuong and Xuan Thu Nguyen announced that they will follow sustainable fashion from now on.

Bringing cultural elements into fashion is also considered sustainable fashion development. Designs made from Vietnamese silk and hemp create a very unique style and are in line with international fashion trends.

Model "reigns"

At this year's Vietnam International Fashion Week, the important positions (first face, vedette) were mostly taken by models.

Famous supermodels of the fashion industry were all present such as: Thanh Hang , Anh Thu, Vo Hoang Yen, Minh Tu, Mac Trung Kien...

Along with that are beauty queens and runners-up who grew up as models through the Next Top Model contest such as runner-up Hoang Thuy, beauty queen H'Hen Nie, Ngoc Chau...

Although not as full of celebrities as previous seasons, Vietnam International Fashion Week still attracted a large audience, filling the auditorium every night despite unfavorable weather.

It is expected that the new season of Vietnam International Fashion Week will take place in Hanoi at the end of this year.
