Ngan Thi Van Su aims to score points with the Vietnamese women's team at the 2023 World Cup.
The Vietnamese women's team is actively training at VFF to prepare for the matches at the 2023 World Cup.
At this year's tournament, Huynh Nhu and her teammates are in Group E with the defending champions the US women's team, the Netherlands women's team and the Portugal women's team.
At a recent training session, striker Ngan Thi Van Su of the Vietnamese women's team shared: "I will try my best to be selected by the coaching staff for the World Cup, because the whole team is excited because this is the first time Vietnamese women's football has participated in the biggest tournament on the planet.
For me, European and American teams are quite similar to the Philippines, they are very tall and have good physical strength. Coach Mai Duc Chung always tells me that because I am small, I have to be fast and have good tactics to get past people more easily."
Despite being in a difficult group, Ngan Thi Van Su aims to gain points with the Vietnamese women's team: "My team and I think that getting 1 point at the World Cup is very valuable."
In the past few days, the players have also had time to practice with the official FIFA World Cup ball.
Talking about the team's familiarization process, Van Su said: "Regarding practicing with the new ball, the whole team thinks that the new ball is quite hard, heavy, and the path is very uncomfortable, so the whole team is gradually getting used to this new ball about 90%. I myself have not completely adapted to this new ball yet."
The Vietnamese women's team will have two friendly matches on June 2-3 at VFF before leaving for Germany for training on June 5.
Ahead of the 2023 World Cup, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will compete with a series of strong opponents. Specifically:
- June 10: Friendly match with Eintracht Frankfurt
- June 15: Friendly match with Short Mainz
- June 21: Friendly match with U23 Poland
