This is a cultural activity to celebrate the country's major holidays, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Mining Area (April 25, 1955 - April 25, 2025) and in response to the Hue National Tourism Year 2025.
Director of Quang Ninh Provincial Museum Do Quyet Tien shared that, with the spirit of cooperation, sharing experiences, promoting the strengths of each museum unit in the country, the unit and Hue City History Museum have developed a plan to coordinate thematic exhibition as a practical activity to improve the quality and effectiveness of heritage conservation,education and communication. This is an opportunity for the public to understand more deeply the history of Vietnamese ao dai, directly experience traditional cultural activities such as Thanh Tien paper flower making, the profession of Ong Tao village in Dia Linh of Hue city or the stages of making ao dai.
The Vietnamese Ao Dai is not only an aesthetic symbol but also a cultural embodiment imbued with the national soul. Through each historical period, the Ao Dai has been constantly preserved, created and developed, inheriting traditions, expressing the modern breath of Vietnamese cultural life. In particular, the ancient capital of Hue , which is honored as the "Ao Dai Capital", is a typical cultural center, preserving the core values and quintessence of traditional costumes.

Director of the Hue City History Museum Nguyen Duc Loc said that in recent years, Hue has not only been a place to preserve and maintain traditional ao dai but also a pioneer in bringing ao dai back to contemporary life. In 1989, in Hue, women's ao dai were introduced into the workplace and lecture halls. By 2020, men's ao dai had been introduced into the workplace by the culture and sports sector as a form of public art. In August 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially recognized "Knowledge of sewing and wearing Hue ao dai" as a national intangible cultural heritage.
This thematic exhibition is organized in a modern way, applying digital technology in explanation and interaction. The entire space is invested meticulously and scientifically, ensuring aesthetics, suitable for groups of the public to visit, research, study and experience.
Through the event, the affection and attachment between local museums, including between Hue and Quang Ninh, continues to be strengthened and developed, contributing to building a sustainable, creative and widespread heritage community in the future.
The art performance program of traditional Ao Dai and modern Ao Dai of Hue city was held on the shore of Ha Long Bay, creating attraction for people and tourists to see the exhibition space "Vietnamese Ao Dai through historical periods".
