Vietnam - Finland explodes on opening night

On May 31, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2025 will officially open with the theme "Cultural Essence", with a competition between the host team Da Nang and the defending champion Finland. Preparations for the performance are being carefully and urgently prepared by the teams.

As the host team and also the "storyteller of light" who has been associated with DIFF for 14 years, the Da Nang fireworks team (Vietnam 1) once again takes on the responsibility of opening the 2025 festival season.

With the performance called "Cultural Essence", the Da Nang team promises to bring an emotional and proud work of art to international friends on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the city's liberation. The performance consists of 4 parts, lasting more than 20 minutes, using thousands of fireworks combined with music , creating a lively symphony of light and sound in the sky of the Han River.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang, Captain of the Da Nang fireworks team, shared that through musical melodies and colorful fireworks effects, the team wishes to introduce to international friends the advanced culture imbued with Vietnamese national identity.

Also participating in the opening night is the reigning DIFF 2024 champion – JoHo Pyro Professional Fireworks AB from Finland.

Carrying the aura of the champion, the Finnish team will perform the "Nordic Lights" show, inspired by the magical aurora borealis phenomenon in Northern Europe. Through world-class pyrotechnics, JoHo Pyro promises to lead the audience through many emotions, exploring events and memories associated with Finnish people and culture. "This is more than just a show. This is a message of fire, a celebration of art, connection and the beginning of a new era," shared the JoHo Pyro fireworks team.

Coming from two continents with completely different cultural identities, the two fireworks teams Da Nang and JoHo Pyro (Finland) promise to bring the audience a spectacular opening night, opening the longest and most spectacular fireworks festival season ever.

Increased room occupancy, ensuring safety for tourists

According to a survey, the room booking capacity at hotels and accommodation facilities along the coast and Han River in Da Nang City is currently full from May 30 to June 1.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Chairman of the Danang Hotel Association, said that up to now, hotels have had room occupancy rates of 80-90% during the opening and closing days of DIFF 2025. In addition, room occupancy rates during other performance nights of DIFF are also increasing.

Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, informed that the room occupancy rate during the opening of DIFF 2025 is currently over 75% across the city. Particularly at hotels along the Han River and the coast, the occupancy rate is over 90%. Many accommodation establishments continue to accept room bookings, especially from individual guests. This is a positive signal showing the spread of the festival and the effectiveness of the local tourism industry's proactive preparations.

"With a series of summer tourism activities and festivals taking place from May to the end of August, Da Nang City expects to welcome a 12-15% increase in the number of visitors this summer compared to the same period in 2024," said the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The number of tourists coming to Da Nang this time is expected to be very large, so the city pays special attention to ensuring security, order and safety.

Accordingly, during DIFF 2025, Da Nang City will organize 6 rounds of price inspection and control of key services and goods in the area. This activity aims to stabilize the market, control prices, ensure consumer rights, and at the same time preserve the city's tourism image.

The city police will coordinate with relevant units to develop a plan to ensure security, order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue; at the same time, study the traffic flow plan of the organizing agencies and units to facilitate coordination.

The City Military Command will coordinate with relevant units to ensure absolute safety at the location where fireworks are stored while waiting for installation and the fireworks display area; the Department of Industry and Trade will strengthen market inspection and control, coordinate with relevant units to conduct surprise food safety inspections at restaurants and hotels serving tourists, etc.

DIFF 2025 takes place from May 31 to July 12 with the theme "Da Nang - New Era". This is the most magnificent and largest DIFF ever, with the participation of 10 teams including: Vietnam (2 teams), Canada, China, Korea, Finland, Poland, Portugal, Australia and Italy.
