Soc Trang launches Action Month for Children 2025

STO - On the morning of May 30, at the Cultural and Conference Center of Soc Trang province, the Department of Health coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children 2025, with the theme "Prioritizing resources to complete goals for children". Attending the ceremony were comrade Ngo Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province; comrade Nguyen Van Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and mass organizations of the province and 300 children representing more than 250,000 children in the province.

Over the years, the work of caring for,educating and protecting children has always been of deep concern to Soc Trang province. In 2024, the whole province regularly provided subsidies to 4,237 children in special circumstances, and cared for more than 100 orphans and disabled children at social facilities. The province also issued 113,218 health insurance cards to children under 6 years old, reaching a rate of 99.8%, ensuring that 100% of children from poor and near-poor households enjoy free health care policies. In addition, the province has supported heart surgery, rehabilitation, built 200 houses, awarded more than 56,000 gifts, 670 scholarships and thousands of school supplies to children in difficult circumstances, with the total budget for implementing goals for children in the past year reaching over 40 billion VND. During the 2024 Action Month for Children, all levels and sectors in the province mobilized nearly 4 billion VND to directly support 53,464 children, including more than 11,300 children in special circumstances. However, the whole province still has more than 20,000 children who are poor, drop out of school early or live away from their parents, in great need of sustainable support and attention from the community.

The 2025 Action Month for Children in Soc Trang province takes place from June 1 to June 30. With the spirit of practical action and prioritizing resources for children, Soc Trang hopes to continue to create positive changes, improve the quality of life and ensure practical rights for children, especially children in difficult circumstances in the province.

On this occasion, in response to the Month of Action for Children and International Children's Day June 1, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province, the Provincial Lottery One Member Co., Ltd. and Bao Viet Life Insurance Company of Soc Trang province, through the Provincial Children's Support Fund, presented many gifts and learning tools to 1,717 children in special and difficult circumstances in the area, of which 300 children received gifts directly at the ceremony, including cash and notebooks. The remaining children will receive them through the local system and units.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in order for the Action Month for Children 2025 to be effective, all sectors, levels and the whole society need to focus on effectively implementing the Law on Children; effectively implementing policies, laws and programs to prevent drowning, care for, educate and protect children, contributing to the sustainable development and happiness of the country. He suggested promoting propaganda work, raising awareness and responsibility of the whole society; focusing on instructing parents and caregivers on life skills and skills to protect children from risks of abuse, violence and injuries. At the same time, it is necessary to prioritize the effective arrangement and mobilization of resources to build a safe and healthy living environment for children; organize useful cultural, sports and entertainment activities during the summer to prevent accidents, especially drowning. Every family needs to be clearly aware of their role and responsibility in caring for, educating and protecting children; regularly pay attention, supervise and create conditions for children to develop comprehensively in terms of physical, intellectual and spiritual aspects.
