Public schools are actively recruiting additional students.
Failing to pass the Accounting majors at public schools, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, a candidate in Long Binh Ward (Dong Nai), was wondering whether to continue waiting for an opportunity or to study at a private school with higher fees. At that time, Tuan learned that the University of Labor and Social Affairs (Campus II in Ho Chi Minh City) had announced an additional enrollment of 260 students, including Accounting and Economic Law - his favorite choices.
According to the announcement, the school will conduct additional admissions based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, requiring a minimum score of 14 or higher and no subject in the admission combination below 1 point. Of the 5 majors for additional admissions, 4 majors accept applications from 14 points, with Economic Law from 18 points; the majors of Business Administration, Accounting, and Economic Law have large quotas, from 60 to 70 students.
Notably, the Economic Law major has its own conditions. Candidates applying for the A00 (Math - Physics - Chemistry) and A01 (Math - Physics - English) combinations must achieve a minimum score of 6 points in Math, while the D01 (Math - Literature - English) combination requires a total score of 12 or higher in Math and Literature.
Previously, the school announced the first round of benchmark scores for 11 training majors at Campus II, ranging from 14 to 24.75 points on a scale of 30. Of which, many majors such as Economics, Business Administration, Finance - Banking, Insurance - Finance, Accounting, and Management Information Systems only have a benchmark score of 14 points.
Also in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment announced additional recruitment for many regular university majors. Accordingly, the admission scores for each method are: High school graduation exam score from 15 points; study score for each subject at high school level from 18.12 - 19.10 points depending on the major; average score of 3 semesters according to high school transcript from 18.7 points.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education attracted attention when it announced the recruitment of 230 additional positions for 7 majors including Educational Technology, Russian Language, French Language, Japanese Language, Korean Language, International Studies and Information Technology. The application period is from September 3 to 16.
With the method of considering high school graduation exam scores, candidates must achieve 18.25 points or more. The highest minimum score for Korean Language is 22 points. In addition, the school also considers admission based on specialized competency assessment scores, with the standard score calculated according to the original combination, other combinations will differ from 0.25 to 0.75 points.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced the first round of admission scores with high scores in the pedagogical group. Of which, Chemistry Pedagogy had the highest admission score with 29.38 points (considering the high school graduation exam results). The non-pedagogical group also recorded strong attraction, with an average admission score of more than 23 points.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) also participates in additional recruitment with 110 quotas for 7 majors at Vinh Long branch. Candidates applying for admission based on their academic records must achieve an average score of 6.5 or higher in three subjects in a combination. With the method of considering high school graduation exam scores, the score for receiving applications is 18 for the majors of Agricultural Business, Technology and Innovation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (engineering system) and 19 points for the majors of Business English, Tax, Hotel Management, and Economic Law.

Private schools are not out of the picture.
While many public schools only recruit in some "selective" majors, private universities open their doors with large quotas in most training majors.
Hung Vuong University, Ho Chi Minh City (DHV) announced additional recruitment with a total of 615 targets, applying 2 methods: Considering the 2025 high school graduation exam scores and considering the 12th grade transcript. In the Law major, the admission score from the high school exam is 18, in which Math and Literature must reach a minimum of 6 points; if considering the transcript, candidates need to have an average grade 12 score multiplied by a coefficient of three from 18 points, at the same time Math and Literature must not be less than 6. The remaining majors accept applications from 15 points (high school exam) and 17 points (transcript).
Nguyen Tat Thanh University also announced additional admission for 73 majors in all methods, with scores equivalent to the first round's standard scores. Van Lang University implemented additional admission for 59 majors, accepting applications according to five methods including: High school graduation exam scores, school records, Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores, aptitude test scores, and V-SAT test results.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) is considering additional applications for 61 majors, accepting applications until September 10 by considering transcripts with a score of 18 points, with the health major group receiving 19 to 21 points. Saigon International University (SIU) is recruiting additional students for the majors of Educational Technology and Information Technology in Healthcare with an expected target of 300 - 350. In addition, Ba Ria - Vung Tau University also announced additional recruitment for hundreds of wishes for 95 majors, with the standard score based on high school graduation exam results ranging from 15 - 17 points and based on transcripts from 16 - 20 points depending on the major.
Other private universities such as Van Hien, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance... all announced additional recruitment with many targets.
Find opportunities at the “second door”
In case of failing all of their wishes in the first round of admission, candidates still have the opportunity to participate in additional rounds of admission organized by universities. This is not only a solution for schools to meet their enrollment quota, but also a “second door” to help candidates find a major and training environment that suits their abilities and interests.
For example, the additional recruitment of Thu Dau Mot University (HCMC) has 8 regular training majors including Music, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Forestry Processing Technology and Environmental Engineering. These are all majors associated with the current development trends of society. In particular, the group of life sciences - applications such as Biotechnology and Food Technology are especially attractive to candidates.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhi, Head of the School of Biology, said that students majoring in Biotechnology will be trained thoroughly from theory to practice, with the capacity to participate in the fields of medicine, high-tech agriculture, environment or biological cosmetics. The Food Technology major focuses on training in processing, preservation, quality control and research and development of new products.
According to MSc. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung - Deputy Head of Admissions and Corporate Relations Department, University of Finance - Marketing, schools that have met their enrollment quotas from the first round will no longer consider additional enrollment, while schools that still have enrollment quotas will announce additional enrollment plans for each major.
Candidates need to closely follow the announcements of the schools to know which majors are still recruiting, and should register at many schools that have additional admissions to increase the chances of being admitted. However, candidates also need to be calm in choosing, because the standard score in the additional round is not necessarily lower than the first round, and may even be higher due to the large number of candidates registering at the same time.
Admissions experts note that candidates need to closely follow the official announcements of each school because the time and method of submitting applications may be different. Additional quotas are often not many, and they focus on majors that do not have enough students, so the level of competition is high, candidates should submit their applications early to increase their chances. In addition to high school graduation exam scores, many schools are still flexible in considering admission based on academic records, competency assessment scores or international certificates, expanding the options for candidates.
In the North, many universities also announced additional enrollment. Hanoi University of Industry is recruiting for 10 additional training programs in English. Phenikaa University also announced additional enrollment for 50 training majors, including many "hot" majors such as Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Chips and Packaging Technology, Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, etc.
The University of Agriculture and Forestry (Thai Nguyen University) is recruiting for all 25 training majors, with the minimum admission score equal to the high school graduation exam score from 15 points - equal to the previously announced admission threshold.
