At Vietcombank , the Vietcombank Japanese Yen exchange rate is 158.93 VND/JPY and the selling rate is 168.22 VND/JPY, an increase of 0.24 VND in the buying direction and an increase of 0.26 VND in the selling direction.

At Vietinbank , the Yen exchange rate increased by 0.26 VND in both buying and selling directions, equivalent to 159.87 VND/JPY and 169.57 VND/JPY.

At BIDV Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate increased by 0.1 VND in both buying and selling directions, reaching 159.64 VND/JPY and 168.15 VND/JPY, respectively.

At Agribank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate for buying and selling is 159.88 VND/JPY and 167.96 VND/JPY - up 0.07 VND for buying and up 0.1 VND for selling.

At NCB Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate is 159.67 VND/JPY for buying and 167.78 VND/JPY for selling (corresponding to an increase of 0.2 VND for buying and an increase of 0.23 VND for selling).

Yen exchange rate trend forecast

The Japanese yen steadied near 151 per dollar, recovering slightly after falling to a fresh 34-year low this week, as Japanese authorities signaled a willingness to intervene in currency markets.

Officials from Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) and the Financial Services Agency met on Wednesday to discuss the yen’s weakness, with Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki warning that “decisive steps” would be taken to counter excessive currency movements. Chief currency diplomat Masato Kanda also said he “will not rule out any steps to respond to disorderly foreign exchange movements.”

The yen's rapid decline comes amid speculation that the BoJ's monetary policy will remain accommodative for some time despite its recent pivot against negative interest rates.

BoJ board member Naoki Tamura also recently said the risk of a spike in inflation and the need for the central bank to quickly tighten monetary policy remains low.
